Hello Wildflower Friends,

I know it’s been some time since I’ve posted. I had hoped to be posting today to announce subscriptions would be starting, but unfortunately I’m officially calling this season as a loss.

The loss of my mother earlier this year was devastating, and between dealing with her estate and the grief, I lost several months of the season to depression.

In addition, the multiple storms, and the weeks of high temperatures have just been too much to come back from. While I wasn’t able to get some of the flowers I planned to plant started, I did spend many hours planting a beautiful selection of dahlias I had been curating during the off season. However,
the storm last week took out all of the dahlias that I was waiting on, along with the sunflowers, zinnias and other filler flowers.

I am so sorry to those of you that were looking forward to flower subscriptions again this year. I spent so much time and money getting ready for this season and had some beautiful new flowers and varieties I was excited to show you all. But sometimes things don’t go as planned…

I hope you’ll consider sticking with me for next season as I will be coming back next year. I’m also excited to announce I was approved for a grant and will be installing an irrigation system over the next few months, which will help to produce larger, healthier flowers (with less water waste)!

Thank you to everyone for your support during these challenging times and I hope you’ll stick around and give me another chance in 2025.

Hello Flower Friends,

I wanted to post an update as I haven’t been very active recently. My mother unexpectedly passed away in February so the past few weeks have been difficult.

I still plan to grow flowers for the 2024 season for bouquets and subscriptions, but unfortunately, I wasn’t able to get my ranunculus and anemones in the ground at the right this time year. However, I will have tulips mid-April thru mid-May and then my normal season should start sometime in June.

But, I’ve got some new roses coming this spring that I’m very excited about and I’m trying a few new varieties of zinnias, sunflowers, dahlias and lisianthus, so that will be fun to see how they turn out.

I guess that’s it. It’s been a rough few months but I got my green thumb from my mom and she loved the garden so I’m going to keep going… My mom would’ve been 64 next Monday, happy birthday week in heaven, mom!

While it might seem like the “off season” for flower farmers, there’s a lot that happens behind the scenes the next few months.

🧹Clean up brush and tear out dead plants
🍁Lay down compost and cover with tarp
🌱Order seeds for next season
🌷Plant tulips, allium, peonies, etc.
✍️Plan out the plot for next spring
🔨Build bed for ranunculus and anemones to start in January under row cover

This is one of the few items I can check off the list that my daughter enjoys helping me with, so we took advantage of the nice weather!

I’m pretty excited about the varieties we have for this Spring, check out these GORGEOUS tulips!!

Now that my growing season is officially over I “get” to dig up every single dahlia tuber I planted this year, wash the dirt off them, divide them, sort them, and prepare them for storage.

In our growing zone 5b, dahlia tubers that are left out over the winter will die and not come back the following year so if I want to grow them next year I “get” to go through this process.

To help me, I’m looking at pictures of all the pretty flowers to remind me why I am going through all this in the cold and windy weather we’ve had this week. 😜

It’s also difficult because I have some still making flowers, but I’m letting them “go to seed” so I can collect the seeds and see if they make some cool new varieties next year! But it is SO HARD to look at them each day and NOT cut them and bring them inside while I wait for them to make seeds.

Oh, the life of being a flower farmer.

As the season comes to an end I’m already looking towards planning for 2024.

If you were a subscription purchaser or bought any flowers from me this season, I’d love to know what you thought! Which flowers did you LOVE ❤️, which flowers could you live without 🫤 and what would you like to see next year?

I will say I have a ton of roses in order that will be planted in early spring and in bouquets as soon as they’re blooming (pics attached) and I know for sure I want to expand the dahlia beds.

But I’d love to hear thoughts on anything and everything regarding what you’d like to see more of or less of next year.

Flower Subscription Group B

I am so sorry, but I will not be able for pickups tonight.

On top of the extreme heat, I’ve also been battling a stomach bug and extreme headache since going to the ER Monday night. I didn’t mention the bug before because I thought there was no way I’d still be sick today, but unfortunately I still am.

If you can all pick up Saturday, that would be greatly appreciated.
Again im so sorry for the last minute notice and to be doing this.
If 9am-11am on Saturday doesn’t work but another time does please message me and we can set up a time.
