It was a great chance for us to practice some sweet dance moves and get to know each other before their big day. It helps to take a lot of stress off the wedding day, when you've already made a connection with your vendors.

A Mother's Core Memories

Back in my day..... When I was slightly less older than I am now, I told myself that I absolutely did not want children. It was NOT for me.
Kids are loud, messy, crazy, and just not for me. 🤐
I now know, that was fear talking (for me). Fear of failure, responsibility, pain, finances....the list goes on really.
Now that we're on the other side of 6 total pregnancies, with 3 of them earthside -- I can say without a doubt, that these souls have been my greatest teacher. Every last one of them.
They all made me face my fears, head on. In every sense of the word. They have reflected back to me, trauma and pain that has been carried my entire life. They've shown me that it's okay to release and let go.
I've had no choice but to see myself in them, and work through my sh*t.
While I was partially right in the beginning (kids are definitely Loud Crazy and so so messy😄), I also know that I will never stop being in Awe of the entire human experience.
It's one thing to grow old yourself. It's another thing to watch someone else do it, from the beginning. ✨
Just when I think I know everything about these little humans, they suddenly level up and start responding to the word Bye Bye.
My favorite thing is seeing the confused look they give their hand, as they realize it's moving without really knowing why. 😄
This holiday season will be her First. And it will maybe be our last time experiencing the First through a child's eyes.
My goal is to sit with each moment, and lock in the core memories. (Even if it happens to be on cheap cell phone camera like this one).

Family Film
One of my fears is that I won't be able to remember it all. That there is no true way to capture each child's face, postures, movements, texture.... that those things will slowly slip away from me as they grow and change.
But family films are a way to bottle it up and save it.
It has been two years since I made a Personal Family Film, and just last week we celebrated this kid turning 4.
If it wasn't for making this film back then (and watching it at least once a month since then), I may not have realized that his laugh has always sounded the same (even when he was a baby). He has always had expressive facial expressions. He has always marched to the beat of his own drum.
