We wanted to take some time and thank everyone who came out last weekend to petfest. You sparked excitement and anticipation for what's to come next year. To all of our sponsors, thank you for your willingness to invest in local community events. Without you, it is impossible to accomplish any of this. Congratulations to Robbie Sebastien, Kilie Armond & Ashley Burns for winning Best in Show, Best Dressed, and best personality. With everyone's help, we were able to raise $500 for the St. Landry Animal Shelter. THANK YOU, THANK YOU! Next year will be bigger and better, so be sure to stay up to date for what's to come!

We are a couple of days away from our first annual PetFest scheduled with Opelousas Downtown Market on Saturday, September 25, 2021, from 10 am-2 pm.

PetFest is a fun downtown activity to help raise funds and awareness for the St. Landry Animal Shelter. This family-friendly festival is filled with kids' activities such as a fun jump, balloon artist, a petting zoo. For you parents, we have so many amazing vendors, some new and some past favorites, all of who would love to meet you! Our vendors range from jewelry, baked goods, face painting, Cajan Asian infused food, and so much more!

There will be live music by , a photo booth to take photos with your pets. And if that wasn't enough, we partnered up with Main Street and Opelousas Kiwanis Club to Promenade your pooch in style down the red carpet. Awards will be given for Best of Show, Best Dressed, and Best Personality. If you don't have a canine companion, that is okay. Just come out and enjoy the show and have fun!

You won't want to miss all the amazing things downtown Opelousas has to offer. We look forward to seeing you this Saturday at the Courthouse Square, located at 118 S. Court Street in downtown Opelousas.

Our family dog, Tucker, has been a part of our lives for the past 13 years. He was adopted six months after we got married, and one decision that's turned into an incredible blessing. He's been with us through thick and thin and brings joy to each day with his lovable personality! We're putting on PetFest to bring some entertainment and fun. But the primary purpose is to support St. Landry Animal Shelter help find animals like Tucker a great home. There are so many animals WAITING to be loved by you. So please come out enjoy all we have to offer. Maybe adopt an animal while you are there. If that's not something, you cant do. Would you mind thinking about helping in awareness or a financial donation? Every little bit helps and has an impact on our city.

We are excited to partner up with Main Street and Opelousas Kiwanis Club to bring you Pooch Promenade! This is a great way to show off your pooch, claim bragging rights and win a grand prize gift basket which includes a $100 gift card to Java Square. From Yorkies to Great Danes and everything in between, all doggies are welcome!

When and Where: 
First annual PetFest scheduled in conjunction with Opelousas Downtown Market on Saturday, September 25, 2021, from 10 am-2 pm. PetFest is a fun downtown activity to help raise funds for the St. Landry Animal Shelter. The promenade will take place at 11:30 am in front of the Courthouse Square, located at 118 S. Court Street in downtown Opelousas.

How to Enter:
Registering your doggy is easy and can be done online on our site starting September 17th (https://opelousaspetfest.com/pooch-promenade). Since this is a fundraiser, we kindly ask for a $5 donation fee. You can also register at the event between 9:30-10:30 am.

How it Works: 
Promenade your pooch in style down the red carpet. Awards will be given for Best of Show, Best Dressed, and Best Personality. 
If you don’t have a canine companion, that is okay. Just come out and enjoy the show and have fun!

This event promotes pet ownership, shelter pet adoptions, local rescue groups, and most importantly, help raise money for the continued efforts of the St. Landry Parish Animal Control.
