How about this sudden temperature change?!
Just like the weather here on the gulf coast, wedding day weather can be very unpredictable. That is why The Salty Knot is always 10 steps ahead of Miss Mother Nature. If you are like the many bride and grooms that we have booked and have decided on an outdoor wedding, we make it as much a priority to have a stand in venue as we do the main venue just in case the weather decides to change it’s mind last minute. We can never trust our Gulf Coast Weather, can we?!

Thrilled to add another member to the family: this beautiful 1934 National Duolian Resonator 😍 This dreamy hunk of steel already feels like home, and I can’t wait to have it with me for this month’s shows. HUGE shoutout to Strange Guitarworks in New Orleans, LA for fixing this baby up and getting her ready to play for me (another post on the way dedicated just to them 🥹)

Well hey everyone!

I’m Wes, founder of The Salty Knot Event & Wedding Planners. Im a local raised in Orange Beach, Alabama. I cherish this slice of paradise many of us are so lucky to call home. Since graduating from Gulf Shores High School in 2008 I found myself constantly dabbling in design. I moved to Auburn, AL to take basic courses only like many of us in our 20s unsure as to what exactly my “calling” was. There I found myself expanding my talent working for a very successful event hall that would coordinate many Weddings, Parties, Corporate Events etc. Always knowing how much I absolutely loved creating these memories for families and their loved ones, it wasn’t until then did I realize exactly how much preparation, passion and heart goes into these memories that will last a lifetime. I knew I would in the future create my own unique Event Planning service.

I have an immense passion for Interior Design and have built an 11 year interior design portfolio. My interest in event planning then peaked when I assisted in the renovation of a previous clients newly purchased property, that of Bell Mill Mansion in Chattanooga, TN, a 21,000 square foot wedding and event venue. I was so fortunate to be working for such an amazing boss at the time who saw how much of a huge opportunity this would be for me so she agreed to let me take on this massive project, which I may add had only a weeks’ deadline to complete.

I then packed my bag, loaded my dog up and set our dreams north. What was supposed to be a weeks’ job turned into an offer of a full time position for her company for the next summer. I gained so much knowledge that summer in Tennessee and it just clarified to me that this was what God had in store for me this whole time. I felt that summer was the learning course to become a respected and successful Event Planner. Missing home and the beautiful Gulf Coast, I decided my time was up in Tennessee so I brought my pup and my new found knowledge and experience back to my community in Orange Beach.

I returned to my career in interior design. Meanwhile, I began planning my dream of creating a unique and memorable experience in events and wedding planning. With an eye for detail and the drive for perfection, The Salty Knot was born!!! It has been a journey for me but a journey very well taken. Now I have the knowledge, resources and vision to make each and every client’s ideas come to life for that extraordinary memory that will be timeless.

I look forward to creating these memories for you here on The Gulf Coast.
