On softness 🩵🤍

I really, really loved bridal bouquet, though my silly mirror selfies don’t do it justice. It was twinkly and sweet, soft and ethereal - like holding the sky and the sea at the same time. use of Mary Oliver felt so perfect for this wedding. I feel compelled to reshare the entire poem on this quiet Wednesday morning >>>

You do not have to be good. You do not have to walk on your knees for a hundred miles through the desert repenting. You only have to let the soft animal of your body
love what it loves.

Tell me about despair, yours, and I will tell you mine. Meanwhile the world goes on. Meanwhile the sun and the clear pebbles of the rain are moving across the landscapes, over the prairies and the deep trees, the mountains and the rivers. Meanwhile the wild geese, high in the clean blue air, are heading home again.

Whoever you are, no matter how lonely, the world offers itself to your imagination, calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting - over and over announcing your place
in the family of things.

Tirzah and Jordan ❤️

When I look through photos, all I can think is that everything about and Jordan’s beautiful wedding in early October felt like a warm hug. How fortunate am I to get to witness it all and celebrate this kind of joy through flowers? 🌸
*
Even though many of her inspiration photos skewed a bit more pink, I dialed in some velvety red tones to add a little funk. As usual, the flowers look like they were always meant to be held by her!

We celebrated Mighty’s 5th birthday and 35th birthday last week with lots of their favorite flower - marigolds, of course. Thanks to everyone who snagged a bright bunch, probably some of the very last “hurricane” flowers of the season. I’ll be sad to see them go. 🧡

Happy Tuesday & fall updates! 🌸
*
Pink gomphrena has been harvested/is hanging to dry for fall crafting. I’ll finish the white and purple later this week. It’s hard not to smile at this quirky little bloom! I wish all flowers were as carefree and easy to grow!
*
I’m traveling for work quite a bit over the next two weeks and then am designing for my last (but not least!) wedding of the season, but will be doing a BOUQUET DROP toward the end of this week for local pick up. Even though the first succession of spring flowers are in the ground, there’s still plenty of fall blooms waiting to be enjoyed - stay tuned! 💐
*
Then believe it or not, it’s almost time to open pre-orders for the 2025 SPRING CSA! For the past few years now I’ve opted to launch these around Thanksgiving for folks who want to snag their spot early or gift a membership to a loved one over the holidays. Be sure to sign up for our newsletter to learn more in the coming weeks 🌼

Thanks, as always, for being here and supporting local flowers!

A moment for the gomphrena…

Which has literally weathered every possible weather moment since the spring as though hurricanes and 90+ degree weather were the most normal thing in the world. (Not pictured - the pink and white gomphrena which has literally taken over our home space in fluffy mounds!) I’m going to be doing a huge harvest of all the gomphrena this weekend for drying. Looking forward to celebrating this playful flower in its next season! 🌸

Crazy that the flowers are fighting to bounce back after all the damage the plot took in the storm last week. It’s still definitely nearing the end of the season, but I’m not complaining to have these bright faces to greet me each morning. ❤️

Hurricane flowers (and other local treats) 🧡

Just a quick note of thanks to everyone who reached out and stopped by earlier this week to get a mini marigold bunch and these incredible Florida avocados (shared by a local follower, thank you!!). I hope they are helping you move forward after a stressful week 🌼🥑

Tonight and tomorrow marks the first days of spring planting and I can’t wait! Let’s do this. 🌱

Milton update ❤️
*
Feeling grateful to be writing these words, but despite our worst fears downtown Orlando was thankfully spared the worst of last week’s storm. We saw some flooding, which we expected, with most damage from 90 mph winds that whipped through in the early morning hours on Thursday. The farm plot looked about the way I expected - crushed by large branches that fell and twisted from wind - though the dead tree on the corner held strong. I managed to clean up all the fallen debris, cut back anything damaged beyond repair, re-secure the bent tposts and straighten the netting and rows. I harvested what I could and expect another small flush or two, but at this point my focus is squarely on spring. 🌸
*
Most Florida farms were not as lucky, with flooding and wind destroying fall food and flower crops across a wide swath of the state. As you make choices for you and your family in the coming weeks, please consider supporting local farms as you can - many are still assessing what that means exactly, but I can share resources as I learn more. Here in central Florida, and are two to support if you can - be sure to follow each for updates.

I’ll have a few more free mini marigold bouquets for pickup early this week if you need a little sunshine, stay tuned. Sending love to all. 🌼

Meditation on sunshine 🌼
*
As all of Florida braces for hurricane Milton, I’m trying to practice gratitude. Plus, I figured it’s about time to share my favorite wedding bouquet of all time, lovingly created for a few weeks ago. Every time I look at photos from Liberia and Marc’s fall equinox wedding, I feel such calm warmth and quiet happiness, something I hope her wedding flowers impart on everyone here in Orlando this week.
*
Fun fact: when designing Liberia’s bridal bouquet, I choose bright yellow marigolds and sweet white echinacea to represent Liberia, and deep orange marigolds, peach strawflowers and rust-toned mums to represent Marc. I blended the two in the middle with cheerful ‘Coco Gold’ marigolds to represent the blending of their lives and unifying of their love. 💛🧡
*
Stay safe this week, Orlando.

Spring loading! 🌸
*
First round of cool season annuals are underway, and I can feel the wheels shifting again (even though it’s a muggy 90+ here in Orlando today). With the world literally upside down, putting seeds to soil feels like an act of rebellion, reclaiming a corner of quiet meditation amidst the noise. A small whispered prayer for a more beautiful tomorrow. 🩷

Mighty here! 👋🏼🌼
*
It’s been a while since Mighty’s made an appearance on the feed, so I thought I’d change that 😉. For those of you who don’t know, Mighty is our sweet golden boy and flower helper. Three weeks will be 3 years since I adopted him, and he’ll celebrate his 5th birthday at the end of October, just 2 days after (fun fact - all the men in our house, including our black cat, are scorpios 😅). Mighty loves the flowers as much as we do, especially the marigolds and their sticky summer scent - he inspects each one to make sure it’s just right for each of you 😂
*
Mighty wants you to know that we’re starting spring seeds this weekend! We waited an extra week to make it though Hurricane Helene, but this quiet gray morning feels like the perfect time. A riot of color and beauty is coming, and we can’t wait. 🌸

Sunshine after the storm 💛

Felt that these pretty golden marigolds deserved a permanent spot here to brighten your weekend. I’m forever enamored by their cheerful, fluffy faces. For all of us in Florida, we could use a little extra sunshine 🌼

I’ve still got a handful of mini bundles up for grabs - send me a note to snag one for the weekend!

For Liberia and Marc 🌼
*
I’ll probably never stop talking about this wedding, just because of how joyful the process of designing it was. I’ve always found yellows and oranges soothing to my little sacral chakra/earthy soul - so when I first met and she asked for a marigold-color themed wedding at the one and only , I mean, how could I say no?
*
This wedding was pure sunshine in every sense of the word, a perfect brightness on the last evening of summer to herald in the first moments of fall here in central Florida. Featuring a rainbow of marigolds from the farm, plus locally grown gomphrena, echinacea, and other goodies. Thank you, Liberia and Marc for trusting me to create these beautiful florals for your special day. It was an honor. 🧡💛
