At Skylar Brook Farm, we welcome kids of all sizes.
During Christmas Tree Season, even the guys in our tree crew are kids at heart!

Today, Caden, Owen, Andrew, and Dave took just a minute away from the tree pavilion to pose at our do-it-yourself photo op in the party pavilion.

Check out those smiles! What a pleasure it is to have them give up their weekend-time to work the Christmas Tree Season!

Be sure to stop out at Skylar Brook Farm this weekend for your Christmas tree and sweet treats! Check out the “Party Pavilion” where we will be serving complimentary popcorn and hot cocoa out of the Ginny Sue. Pre-packaged deluxe nuts (makes a great gift) and candy will also be available for purchase. The Christmas music makes the pavilion the ultimate hang out to get out of the cold! Are you planning a trip to Skylar Brook Farm to pick out your perfect Christmas tree?
Don’t let the clouds stop you!

Here are a few bits of advice from our team at Skylar Brook Farm.

• Our evergreens look smaller in the field, so know how much space you have in your home for your perfect Christmas tree beforehand.

• Plan how you will haul your perfect Christmas tree home safely. Whether by trailer, truck, or car, bring whatever bungees, ropes, etc. that you may need.

• Dress in appropriate clothing for the weather and wind chill, including appropriate footwear for walking in our fields if you are not purchasing one of our fresh, pre-cut trees.

• If you are bringing your pet with you, make sure you have its leash. For everyone’s safety (including the animals), ALL PETS MUST BE LEASHED AT ALL TIMES!

• If you are planning to visit during our evening hours, you may wish to bring a flashlight or battery-operated lantern. (You won’t get lost in our fields. Lanterns just add to the fun!)

• Bring your camera and take that perfect family photo of your tree cutting experience!

You do NOT need to bring:
• You do not need a tape measure – We have convenient measuring sticks that you can take with you to the field.
• You do not need a saw – We lend you sharp handsaws. (No chain saws permitted.)

Happy Halloween!

Hello, it's me, Carl.

If you have been to Skylar Brook Farm or follow our page, you know that I am the official "Greeter Cat". I am also into numbers. I count our evergreens every day when I walk in the fields and keep track of how many perfect Christmas trees we have.
I also love the children who come to the farm. So, this post is for them.

Today is Halloween.
I have something I would like children to do...but they must do it TODAY!

Most kids dress in costumes and go trick or treating and come home with lots of candy. Here is my idea.

Look at all of the candy you got on Halloween and pick out 2 dozen of the best pieces.
2 dozen pieces is the same as 24 pieces.

(Hint: If you don't know how to count to 24, just get an empty carton from a dozen eggs. Put one piece of candy in each place where an egg was. That will equal 12. Save all of those pieces of candy in a separate "special" pile. Then do it one more time. Add these to the "special" pile and you will have 24 pieces.
Another way to do it is to ask Mom or Dad to help.)

Now, get some yarn or string.

Tie (or tape) each piece of candy in the "special" pile to the yarn or string. In the end, you will have a piece of yarn or string with 24 pieces of candy. Ask your Mom or Dad where you can hang it.

Every day, you can eat 1 special piece of candy from the string. You do this every day for 24 days.

I will be thinking of you every one of those days when you eat the candy.

Then...and this is the best part...when the last piece of candy is gone, do you know what's next?

I'll tell you...it will be the day after Thanksgiving and the start of Christmas Tree Season at Skylar Brook Farm!
It is when you can come and visit me and tell me how good all of that special candy was!

I can hardly wait!

We will once again be offering our wreath decorating workshops. Come and decorate your own front door wreath! These make great gifts as well. Please list your name and date you would like in the comments below. We will be limited to six people per class. The cost is $40 and includes a live evergreen wreath, decorations, & a bow. Cookies, coffee, and water will be provided. You are welcome to bring your own wine. Hope to see you there!!
