This week a teacher came to my room to pick up her kids. She came late and told the kids to hurry out of my classroom, a couple of students told her that they were cleaning. She turned around and told them: “Let’s go, Art is not important!” I was shot. 💔 Art is important to children because it fosters creativity, self-expression, and emotional development. Through art, children can explore their imagination and communicate ideas or feelings that may be difficult to express in words. It also enhances problem-solving and critical thinking skills, as they experiment with different techniques and materials. Additionally, art helps develop fine motor skills, boosts confidence, and encourages cultural awareness by exposing children to diverse forms of expression and perspectives. Engaging in art can also be a calming activity, promoting mindfulness and emotional well-being.
