Being “Santa” as a father to two young men, aged 17 and 20, takes on a deeper, more symbolic meaning than the traditional role of a jolly gift-giver. At their ages, the magic of Santa may no longer be about surprise presents under the tree but about embodying the values and spirit that Santa represents.

Sure, donning the suit is to spread joy to others, but I’m hoping to my boys, it shows them that the holiday season is about more than material gifts - it’s about love, connection, and creating memories. I hope it teaches them the value of giving - not just in terms of gifts but also kindness, time, and compassion for others. I hope it shows them the joy of togetherness, because I couldn’t do any of this without their support, their smiles when they see me in the suit, or their laughs at my interactions with others. I hope it gives them an opportunity to reflect on what they are grateful for, especially as integral parts of our family. And most of all, I hope it shows them that the best gift we can give is out time and attention…to each other and to those in our community.

Ultimately, though, I hope me being Santa shows them that I’m trying my best to be a figure of love, guidance, and inspiration. It’s about showing them that the holiday spirit evolves but never fades - it simply grows into something more profound.

Thanks to Brian Boru Irish Pub and Restaurant for hosting their Winter Relief Event back on December 21st & thanks to all who donated. Together, Brian Boru (especially Restaurant Association of Maryland nominated Manger of the Year Kendall Yingling and Jamie Taylor & Sarah Langer behind the bar) and Being Santa, LLC collected nearly 20 bags of clothes for our friends at St. Vincent de Paul & nearly 10 bags of toys for the pediatric unit at Baltimore Washington Medical Center. A community effort to give back is what the Holidays are all about!!!

Being Santa LLC is able to partner with anyone seeking to do fundraisers throughout the year, with or without Jolly Old Santa’s participation…reach out for any events we can assist with!

And another season of Being Santa comes to an end.As Clarence wrote to George Bailey in It’s a Wonderful Life, “No man is a failure who has friends.” I am overwhelmed with gratitude for the amazing people in my life who came out this season, whether it was to hang for hours or if it was just a quick “Hi” and a picture. Thank you for helping me (hopefully) bring some joy to others.Extra special thanks to Elizabeth & Nate for letting me be a part of Himmel's Holiday Village. Thanks to the Casalino Family for hosting Breakfast with Santa and the amazing staff at both The Rumor Reel & The Rumor Meal for making both events seamless. Thanks to Mark Milligan Jr. and Pasquale Carannante for allowing me to spread a little holiday cheer at your Remax shindig. Thanks to Brian Boru Irish Pub and Restaurant for allowing me to be a part of a successful winter relief food, clothing and toy drive - it was an incredibly fun day to cap off the season. And thank you isn’t quite enough to say to the Ferndale Volunteer Fire Company for making this jolly old elf’s dream come true by giving me a lift to my last gig of the season.Though the suit may be hung up for the season, the spirit of Santa lives on in the hearts of all who believe. Tomorrow is the day!!! Brian Boru Irish Pub and Restaurant is hosting their Winter Relief Effort and Ugly Sweater Party!!!!

Saturday Festivus at Brian Boru schedule:

• Food, Clothing & Toy donations begin at 11am!!! Tis the Season!!! Bring what you are able - new or gently used toys & clothes and nonperishable food items.

• Our friends at Ferndale Volunteer Fire Company will be bringing Santa in by fire truck at 11am!!!! A sight you don’t want to miss 🎅🏼 They’ll also hang around for a bit to show off the engine truck to the little ones!!! Santa will be available for pictures and to hear Christmas Wishes!!!

• The Accidemtal Poet himself, Mr. Nate Whiting, will be there with his Tales of the Christmas Wish Crackler - this is a timeless Christmas tale for young and old alike. Meet him from 11am - 1pm and see all of the books he has to offer!!!

• Michael K will be spinning all your favorite Holiday tunes from 1pm -
4pm!!!!

• The Brian Boru Ugly Sweater Party begins at 3pm - top prize for the most epic sweater wins a bottle of Galway Bay egg nog and a gift certificate!

• Ravens vs Steelers on the TVs staring at 4pm

• The Loose Cannons jamming live tunes from 7-10pm - one of the best duos around!!!

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve told people that I’m really Santa Claus. I put on the suit, jingle the bells & pose for the pictures; but it’s more than that. Therefore, allow me to say it again…
I AM Santa Claus.

Santa Claus is anyone who loves others & strives to bring them joy. It’s someone who gives, no matter how much or little, through their thoughts, words, or actions in every “gift” they offer. They bring comfort to the sorrowful, lend a hand to the needy & stand ready to support the weak. Their compassion is genuine & swift in times of trouble & they see every person they meet as a friend and fellow traveler on life’s journey. They live each day of the year with the spirit of Christmas in their heart.

YOU can be Santa Claus. You SHOULD be Santa Claus.

’Twas a Maryland winter, and all through the state,
The weather was fickle - its moods couldn’t wait.
The lights were hung brightly on houses with care,
But snowmen were melting in springlike air.

Pasadena’s Santa stood jolly and stout,
With a flask of Rumple to help him out.
With a sip of the booze, his cheeks turned bright red,
“Rain, sleet, or sunshine, it’s Christmas!” he said.

At The Rumor Meal, the chatter was loud,
“Will it frost, or just fog, or clear up the clouds?”
While at Brian Boru, with pints in their hands,
They toasted the chaos of these weather-struck lands.

When out on the bay there arose such a clatter,
Folks dashed from their stools to see what was the matter.
Away to the docks they flew like a flash,
To find Santa laughing in his Rumple-spiked sash.

“Now snow! Now sunshine! Now sleet and rain!
On frostbite! On thawing! Oh weather insane!
To the Chesapeake waters! To the hills and the mall!
Now dash away, dash away, dash away all!”

And so, with a wink, old Santa took flight,
Another swig of Rumple to warm him tonight.
And they heard him exclaim as he drove out of sight,
“Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!”

HO, HO, HO!!! Jolly ol’ St. Nick, AKA Santa Claus, AND Mrs. Claus will be making an appearance at The Rumor Meal this Sunday (12/15), 9am-1pm, for breakfast!!! Bring the kiddos & snap as many pics as you'd like!!! Enjoy their new "Breakfast Handhelds" menu & build your own customized breakfast sammich!!! A special menu featuring eggies & pancakes will be available for the kids!

Santa will be collecting nonperishable food items for the local food bank at St Vincent de Paul - all donations benefit those in our communities in need!!! So please help out if you can!!!

The Meal is also in the midst of their winter clothing drive with Our Lady of the Chesapeake. Bring a winter coat, hat, or gloves and receive a $10 coupon good on your next purchase!!!

The ONLY breakfast with the REAL Santa this Sunday is at Rumor Meal -‘don’t be duped by any other local spots advertising the same - as Buddy the Elf would say, their Santa’s sit on a throne of lies and smell like beef and cheese 🤣🎅🏼🎄
