Today, we'd like to honor Jacqueline Fortune as the first woman to hold the position of Director of Community Relations for the Harris County Sheriff’s Office⁠

Jacqueline Fortune is a 29-year veteran of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, she currently serves as the Director of Community Relations. Officer Fortune is the first woman to serve in this role--a position in which she is called upon to build relationships with residents and community agencies within Harris County, and advance public safety awareness. ⁠

Known for her ability to coordinate, organize, and lead, Officer Fortune heads multiple initiatives within the HCSO including the Youth Exploring Program, Crime Prevention Unit, National Night Out Campaign, Coffee with A Cop, Citizens' Police Academy, Youth Citizens' Police Academy, and the Junior Mounted Prose. Director Fortune also extends her leadership to HCSO Storefront Stations.⁠

Director Fortune is an active member of the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE) where she has served as past National Associate Members Representative. Committed to professional development within law enforcement, Jacqueline is a Certified Master Peace Officer who holds multiple professional certifications. She has acted as a facilitator and instructor in fields such as R**e Aggression Defense, Certified Crime Prevention Specialist, Texas Commission of Law Enforcement Certified Instructor, and Child Passenger Safety Technician. In 2018, Director Fortune was named Outstanding Crime Prevention Manager by the Texas Crime Prevention Association. ⁠

Jacqueline Fortune is a graduate of the University of Houston-Downtown (UHD) where she earned her undergraduate degree in Business Administration. She later attended University of Houston Clear Lake where she earned her Master of Artis in Criminology.⁠
