Several people have asked if the upcoming cocktail class is interactive, so we figured we should clarify… Yes! This is not just a lecture or tasting. This is an interactive class - you are provided with your own station and supplies to create three different cocktails. We guide you through the process, but you do the pouring, shaking, straining, drinking (and sometimes spilling) right along with the rest of us!

When a pal comes to visit and mentions a Key Lime “Martini” she had (and loved) recently, you accept the challenge! This one bested that restaurant’s vanilla vodka concoction, hands-down, and was SO easy to make! We used fresh lime, vanilla simple syrup, egg white and Cirrus Vodka.

We’ll be making a lemon meringue version at the April Sours cocktail class here this Thursday and Friday! Get your tickets if you haven’t already!

PSA: Since January, the construction for the MVP pipeline has been directly and negatively impacting Sinking Creek (and the properties in that area) between Newport and Pembroke, in Giles County. As many of our neighbors use natural springs as their water source, we urge caution at this time, as many people have noticed contamination in their homes as well. Our Eastern District Supervisor, Perry Martin, has constructed a formal letter of complaint to the Department of Environmental Quality, and we sincerely hope that won’t go ignored. We’d also like to thank him for his efforts.

The orchard opens for pick-your-own apples this Friday! Hours: 9am - 5pm Fridays - Mondays.

We don’t have cider yet this weekend, but we WILL be making some refreshing Eve’s Apple (wine) Spritzers starting at noon this Saturday and Sunday. ALSO… Award-winning Altillo Vineyards will have wine for sale here this season (the Viognier and Oak Chardonnay are back).

We are officially closed to the public for dinner. Our staff members who were looking for immediate positions have and are securing those (which is what we were hoping and waiting for). Unfortunately, that good news also put us in a position where we had to close prematurely. We were hoping to be able to see many of you out for one more evening, but there weren’t enough of us here to continue to guarantee the same level of quality you’ve come to expect - and you deserve.

If you have a gift card, we are happy to reimburse for you. Just call the restaurant line (540) 626-2232 and leave us a message. We are checking those daily, and we’ll call you back.

That line will continue to be in service, as we aren’t really closing; we’re transitioning to a private event venue. Check our website and give us a call if you’re interested! We appreciate everyone’s support and hope to see you again!

When you realize you’ve got some ‘splainin’ to do… Thank you to everyone who has visited and called to make reservations since our “closing” post. We need to clear some things up. We aren’t closing because you didn’t visit enough. We very much appreciate the support from all of you, and you DID visit enough. And some of you from very far away! Thank you for that. We will miss seeing you.

Also, we can appreciate why some of you might think good people/ staff are hard to find. You know why people say that? Because all the good ones work HERE 😉 and always have. And we very much appreciate them too. (We also know they’re worth more than we can pay them.)

So, to clarify, it’s not you (you’ve been great), and it’s not our crew (they’ve been great); it’s me - trying to prioritize and spend time with the people (and dogs) who need me most. If we can do that, and still on occasion share this beautiful space with people who have a reason to celebrate and want to do that with us, we are in!

Changes are coming to The Bad Apple. After August 27, we will no longer be open to the public. We will be moving to private events, which is essentially what we’re designed for (and you know we love a good party).

Thank you to everyone who has and continues to visit us. And especially to our staff - to those who dreamt and built with us, to those who worked to make improvements here, and to those who are going out with us. It’s no secret that we have the best crew around.

So, if you want to say goodbye, come do it in person.

If you have gift cards, come use them.

It’s been fun! And, we hope you remember us next time you have cause to celebrate! In fact, we might actually throw a party ourselves. If we do, you’re invited!

Congratulations to Dutch!!! One of our own graduates tomorrow! Dutch has been juggling college, two jobs, and regular gigs with his band (you’ve probably witnessed his air-guitar at the bar). We’re so glad that the hard work is paying off. In honor of him, we’ve created “The Dutchess,” a whiskey-forward (Dutch’s preference) cocktail with muddled pineapple and lemon. Try one this weekend, and raise a glass to Dutch, and all of the Radford graduates!
