Since there are several new followers lately, I think I’d better introduce myself again!
I’m Carlie, the adventure-loving founder and head of Dye the Knot Adventure Weddings.
I’m a travel nurse and former wedding planner turned elopement photographer, with experience in floral design and wedding dress art.
I have a pretty badass elopement team who are here to make sure the intimate and scenic ceremonies for our elopement and destination couples go perfectly and that all permits and permission paperwork are in order as we plan the adventure of a lifetime.

We brought in a very special team member for Alex & Matt’s Illinois wedding day!
My very best friend & partner in crime Abby came to do what she does best (other than flawlessly rap to some cardi b) - make mini charcuterie boards for each guest table for cocktail hour!
These photos are of the test run she did the day before while Jae & I were decorating the reception hall. Of course we had to taste test everything to make sure it was safe for the guests the following day 😉
Needless to say, the guests absolutely LOVED it and I got told multiple times what a unique idea having a charcuterie cocktail hour was, and how much they were enjoying the munch boards.
Brides, I definitely recommend charcuterie for your day! 🧀

ADVENTURE WEDDING TIP WEDNESDAY: Choosing Your Elopement Dress. Choosing your elopement gown can be a daunting task, but it doesn’t have to be! As your go-to adventure elopement photographer and planner, I am always here to give my input on your decision, but here are a few things to consider: 1. Season & Location Where are you going and when? This can help give a start to your decision making as far as warmth needed for northern locations vs. tropical locations where less is more. 2. Activity What will you be doing on your adventure location, and how hard is it to get there? If you’re taking a short and easy trek then by all means buy that ballgown wedding dress you’ve always wanted! But if you’re planning on climbing a mountain or taking a more difficult hike, then I’d recommend a lighter and thinner material for your journey! 3. Consider outfit changes Some couples opt to do their classy and breathtaking landscape photos then use sunset and blue hour to change into something a bit more revealing for a boudoir or spicy shoot afterward! (These two shoots can also be done on different days, but is often rolled into one. Totally up to you!) 4. Personal preferenceThis is YOUR day! So if you have a dress that you’ve always dreamed of wearing but it isn’t suitable for the long hike you’re also dreaming of, we can work with that!! There are several ways we can pack your dress so that you can change on site when we end our hike! 5. Personal styleYour dress should be a reflection of you!! Be as brightly colored or as toned and muted as you want! At our company we offer services such as dress design so that brides get 100% what they want at an affordable price, and we also offer DYEING services for those brides that are just dying to show a pop of color instead of dress in traditional white! We also offer multiple lines of accessories to fit whatever location and style preferences you have including bridal shawls, wraps, barefooted sandals, and scarves. 6.
