The Petersburg Half Marathon & 5K is an annual running event that takes participants through a course which showcases the city of Petersburg.

The Petersburg Half Marathon & 5K features 13.1 & 3.1 miles of scenery! Petersburg is conveniently located in central Virginia with a close proximity to Richmond! If you have seen the movie Lincoln starring Daniel Day Lewis, then you have seen Petersburg... the movie was filmed there! Our Half Marathon course was designed to capture the historical aspects of the city and the surrounding areas. The

Start & Finish will take place in historic downtown Petersburg by the Union Train Station. Runners will make their way through the streets, lined with shops and Bed & Breakfasts before heading out towards the Petersburg National Battlefield; the site of battles in both the Revolutionary and Civil Wars. Now for the most unique aspect of this event... during your run through the Battlefield you will be able to witness a battle re-enactment taking place! Actors will be using their muskets to create the sights and sounds of a battle! Join us for a unique event that is sure to deliver lasting memories! Runners and Walkers of all abilities are welcome. In addition to the Half Marathon, we offer a 5K that is ideal for families to participate in! Half Marathon Start Time: 7:00 AM
5K Start Time: 7:15 AM
Kid's Race Start Time: 10:30 AM

We are excited to announce that we have once again been chosen to host the NCAA/NIRCA Half Marathon National Championship on April 5, 2025, alongside the Petersburg Half Marathon & 5K. Top Division I athletes from colleges and universities across the country will compete in this prestigious event. National Championship participants will start 15 minutes ahead of the main field.

Last year, Dean Yost from Virginia University Run Club set a new male course record, finishing the Half Marathon in 1:07, while Lilian Shelley from Binghamton University Run Club claimed the top female spot with a new course record of 1:27.
