The Oval XP Welcome to The Oval XP, Philadelphia’s “Park on the Parkway,” with events and activities for all ages.

The Oval XP is eight acres of public space located on the Ben Franklin Parkway across from the Philadelphia Museum of Art that pops up with programs every summer including movie nights, music, fitness classes and more! During operating hours, The Oval XP features interactive games, special events including live music, movie nights, performances and workshops as well as a rotating lineup of food trucks and a beautiful beer garden.

Join us on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway today between 12 and 5 p.m. for a free festival day! Visit 's Barnes on the Block, the Rodin Garden Bar, the , and The 2024 Oval for a family-friendly afternoon of fun that celebrates the Parkway’s future as a great urban park. The north outer lane of the Parkway will be closed from 20th to Spring Garden Streets and activities stretch up to Eakins Oval.

Our Story

In July of 2013, Philadelphia Parks & Recreation and Fairmount Park Conservancy transformed eight acres of public space on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway (known as Eakins Oval) into The Oval. With a new, vibrant design each summer, along with a mix of free programming, events, and activities for all ages, The Oval has succeeded in becoming both a neighborhood park for locals and a popular destination for visitors.

From live music and movie nights, to a beer garden and food trucks, there’s always a reason to visit The Oval, Philadelphia’s very own “Park on the Parkway!”
