Our Story

I'm Raj Sarma, a Wedding & Lifestyle photographer with a passion for travel, music, coffee & beer. Born and raised in Bombay, photography has been my passion for over a decade.

Over the years I’ve had the good fortune of being published numerous times, winning a few awards and having several exhibitions of my photography in New York and Philadelphia. All these years I had been pursuing photography semi-professionally, it was something I did in addition to pursuing a “real” career. However, the year 2016 brought a turning point in my life and urged me to make some tough decisions. Having worked in technology throughout my professional life, I realised I’d turned into a hamster on a wheel. I did the same things each and everyday never stopping once to think, why am I doing this? Does this make me happy? Am I bringing any change into this world? I also realised that I only truly felt alive when I was with my camera, taking photos and telling stories. It was time for me to make a change. So I made the insane and scary decision to give up the safety blanket of a corporate life and become a full time creative professional. Many thought it was bold, others thought it was crazy! My dad thought it’s a phase and it’ll pass (I think he’s still waiting 😉).

My work compasses a broad range of subjects and don't belong to a single genre/niche. However, if I were to categorise what I do, I believe it is to create visually compelling stories. This is why I naturally lean towards Wedding, Travel & Documentary as stories form the central component of all these genres of photography. As children we were taught, “A photographs speaks a thousand words”, I grew up truly believing this lesson. As a photographer my goal is ambitious, yet simple and that is to tell your stories in their most vivid form through my photographs.
