More than just crafts.

I think that I have shared how I got into crafting; it all started with my wedding. Don’t worry... I won’t bore you again with that story. For those of you that have been around since the beginning, I’m sure you know how it all began. Over the past few months I have been looking at ways to get more fulfillment out of my life. I have been looking at ways to improve my overall happiness which is something I was lacking. Honestly, I do have a great life; i have a great husband and family who are loving and supportive of my endeavors. I have great friends, and a great job that has helped to provide a good life for me. With all of this going for me I still had had a mini meltdown this past July. When this happened I knew it was time for some major changes in my life but I had to start out slow; i really had to do some soul searching. I was extremely stressed out and it seemed like my life was falling apart around me. Some days were harder than others especially when you don’t feel well most days. These issues weren't the only things bothering me and I knew that I had to get myself out of this slump. I started to eat better and exercise which are things that can help anyone in any situation they face. I got into meditation, I started to pray daily, and talk about what was bothering me to my loved ones. Opening up about some of the things that were bothering me was difficult at first. There have been some rough days but guess what? I’ve gotten through them. I am very grateful for my husband, my family (both blood and blue), and my closest friends for helping me through this difficult time. Crafting has helped me relieve stresses and express myself but, it did get to a point where i needed a break. I wasn’t enjoying it the way I use to when I first embarked on my “Birdies Crafty Closet’ journey. Since my husband and I have moved in together (2014) , I have become interested in decoration and decor. This has evolved into me gaining interest in party planning and event decorating. That is why I enrolled in QC Event School event decorating course to become a certified event decorator. I’m hoping that in the weeks to come I will be opening my own decorating/ decor business. It is something that brings me joy and brings a balance to my life that i have been searching for. Crafting, making home decor, and planning parties is a creative outlet that lets me express myself in ways that bring joy to others, and that in turn brings me joy. In the coming weeks there will be some great things coming my way and I’m excited to see where this journey will take me. It may very well lead to a career change for me, which is a scary thought but at the same time an exciting proposition. I never would have expected all of this to happen at 31, but I think it’s time that I embrace change, no matter how scary it may be. I am strong enough to handle whatever life throws at me!
