While we celebrate Kim Petras’s historic win at last night’s Grammys, let’s also use this as an opportunity to show some love to electronic music pioneer and 3x Grammy Award-winner Wendy Carlos. After Petras correctly stated she was the first transgender woman to win Best Pop Duo/Group Performance at the Grammys, many online incorrectly called her the first transgender woman to win a Grammy ever. That distinction goes to Carlos, who many might know better for her work composing the soundtracks to Stanley Kubrick’s THE SHINING and A CLOCKWORK ORANGE as well as Steven Lisberger’s TRON. Today, at 83 years old, she spends her time exploring and photographing solar eclipses, NBD. Go Wendy!
