Good Morning and Happy Saturday! We don't have any ball games today, so I get a free day to bake, cook and clean!

I shared in my stories yesterday about emptying our 1800s English pine hutch that is a little over 8 feet wide. I love to collect dishes and china and cabbage ware amongst other things. This hutch is a great place to store all of these items, but emptying it out so we could move it was no easy task! We were in great need of accent lighting along that wall. I had searched for wall scones for months, and finally settled on these from Green Row. Not only were they backordered for months, but they were hardwired... so at first glance, would not work for what we needed. A good friend transformed these hardwired wall sconces into something I could plug into a wall outlet. I have them on a smart switch so they turn on and off with a remote. They were well worth the wait and I can change the shades to give them a different look!

It is difficult to photograph them both on each side because this hutch is over 8 feet long and spans the wall between our dining room and kitchen.

What do you guys think? Was I crazy for going to all that trouble?!

Kind of sad, but I’m finally taking down the last of my Christmas trees. With the snow finally melted, my gardening heart is looking forward to spring. In the meantime, I’m planning and preparing for the season ahead. Taking advantage of the early nights, I’m still savoring the winter season…just willing to let it go, a little at a time. And dreaming of warmer temperatures, longer daylight and lots of fun projects!

Avonlea is pretty excited about the two hour school delay and we are too! This snow has helped us all ease back into the routine of school. Delays mean we can go to bed a little later and wake up later!! 🙌🏻

🎄 Merry Christmas, from our family to yours. 🎄

This Christmas was different. Definitely different, in a good way. This past year was not at all like we would have planned or imagined. Sickness and cancer threatened to steal our joy, leaving us disappointed and defeated. But for our family, our hope and eternal joy comes from the birth of our Savior and the ultimate sacrifice He paid for our sins, giving us lasting joy that can never fade away, despite our circumstances that state otherwise.

This Christmas, we held one another a little tighter, laughed a lot more and lingered longer together (partied till almost 2 am!)…and even my sweet little niece was awake for it and didn’t seemed phased at all! Cat napping for the win!

Not sure what 2025 will look like. Praying for my mom’s remission of all cancer for sure. But one thing I know…we are treasuring up all the moments together we have and trusting our God for what lies ahead.

I pray you know the Prince of Peace, that gives us hope for the future. May God richly bless you with His mercy and grace. I’m thankful for you, Friend. Merry Christmas! ♥️

Merry Christmas Eve Eve! ♥️

I pray you savor the Savior’s birth as we head into the Christmas Holiday. If gifts aren’t purchased, or you forgot to wrap something, or if the house didn’t get cleaned quite as planned, offer grace to yourself and others. Speak gently, listen more and slow down on the scrolling. Being present is sometimes the best present you could offer your loved ones.

I’m so thankful that when we forget to offer grace to ourselves, God’s grace is enough. Just remember that, Friends. When we feel less than, or like we don’t measure up, HE is enough. This season is hard for so many. Let’s look around and see where we can be the hands and feet of Jesus. And when we do, we are pointing others to the birth of our Savior. And that, my friends, is what Christmas is all about. God’s gift to us! 🎁

Some things are worth waiting for. Still loving this beautiful piece that perfectly spans the wall between our kitchen and dining room. Perfect for storing all my china, dishes, tea towels and cherished heirloom pieces both passed down to me and those gathered from time to time. This time last year, I was “pining away” for a piece that was sold right before I could pay for it…and after waiting just a tad bit longer, Ashley found this one just for me. It’s her first Christmas in the old farmhouse and I have enjoyed decorating it with both fresh and faux greenery, antique ornaments and more. Sometimes, waiting for things just happens to pay off!

The week is flying by…can anyone else relate? During the countdown to Christmas, don’t forget to be intentional about making time for those you love. Don’t settle for exhaustion, crammed schedules and stress. Trade hectic schedules and long to-do lists for being present with your family. Instead of spending money on things that we don’t really need, let’s give homemade, well-thought out gifts that have purpose and meaning. Take time to relax and enjoy this Christmas season. Friends, let’s be kind to ourselves and extend grace to all.

Coming back from a trip, even if it’s just for a few days, always brings lots of work! Being self-employed and running a farm means the to-do lists for arriving back in town are even longer than the ones made before heading out-of-town. Can anyone else relate? Sometimes, I wonder if it’s worth going away at all, but I know in my heart it is! The memories and time spent away are priceless…even if the chore list is lengthy!

We are currently trying to knock the to-do list down before a baseball game tonight. So thankful for cool temperatures…makes the nights more cozy wrapped in blankets! 🍁

I’m finding it harder and harder to post on social media the things I love. How can I post about thrifted finds, decor, my new magazine cover I was just in, and all the things I love…as if time goes on. Because for some precious people, time just stopped. And they have been living a nightmare for a week now. We continue to pray and continue to give, but with every scroll on social media, it just seems like it isn’t enough.

I’m so grateful for all the precious survival stories I am hearing and seeing selfless families serving, giving and going to help our friends in Western, NC. What an encouragement! So thankful that God is still on His throne, and none of these events caught Him by surprise. May each one of us continue to show the watching world what it looks like to be the hands and feet of Jesus and may we point others to Him by our sacrificial giving. 🤍

Good Morning, and Happy 🌧️ R.A.I.N.Y 🌧️ Tuesday!

Once again, I started off my morning lighting cozy candles and snuggling with the pups under a warm blanket for my quiet time. Fall is in the air and the leaves are starting to change color and fall already!

As I made my bed with my newest collection of pillow covers and quilts from , I realized that many of you may not know that we sell fabric for a living! I love mixing and matching prints, patterns, colors and layering literally everything! I think pillows are probably my husband’s worst enemy. He hates tripping over them constantly because the dogs kick them off the beds, chairs, couches and everywhere. They wind up in the floor frequently, which is why I love pillow - covers- they can easily be washed and still look great! I have even found soft, waterproof protective covers to put over my down inserts to keep them clean year round!

I posted in my stories some of my favorite small businesses. They have a special place in my heart, because my husband and I have been owning a small business for over 20 years.

Started our Saturday nice and slow. I slept in way too late, and it felt so good! No alarm clocks, no packing lunches, no nothing…just rest! Sometimes, that’s just what our bodies need. Now, it’s baseball practice, farm chores and house cleaning.

Styling my new 8 foot pine 1800’s hutch from London - thanks to - is so much fun! I collect cabbage ware, vintage dishes, china, transfer ware and more. So excited to finally have a place to put all my collections and display sentimental pieces as well. My wedding china, my grandmother’s crystal, pitchers, and a mix of thjngs I have collected over the years, now have a home! This huge wall was so awkward and yes, this piece is giant, but it actually makes the room feel bigger, and cozier!

Never be afraid to try weird things, Friends. Styling and creating a cozy home is all about what YOU like…not what’s trendy, or what everyone else is doing. If you love it, that’s all that matters. My kids think I’m crazy for buying something so old and big. But this piece has a story and I’m excited to be a part of it. I’m already planning gatherings where we can even display food, desserts and serving pieces.

It may be in the mid 90’s this week, but I’m thankful for the cozy, fall vibe in the house…especially when we haven’t been feeling great. Nothing like the scent of fall candles from to lift our spirits!

Also, how cute is this antique Irish Pine Hutch from ? I’ve been looking for quite a while for the perfect piece for this corner…and one that would give me added storage since this house is so limited. I think she’s a beauty and so thankful to have found her!

2024 continued to be even more rocky. My mother-in-law was in and out of the hospital, our daughter was trampled by a huge cow and only by God’s hand did she remain unharmed, and then as if that wasn’t enough, we got the news that my mom had the worst kind of breast cancer possible and would need surgery and treatments right away. Although our world was shaken and our hearts broken, our hope and trust in the Lord didn’t falter and indeed, it grew bigger and deeper than ever as we navigated this uncharted territory. 🤍 2024 - Part Three

Still coming off the high of being featured in @betterhomesandgardens Farmhouse Christmas magazine. Our farm life can sometimes seem like a fairytale come true, but most days are challenging and hard and a learning curve. We feel unprepared and inexperienced. Neither of us grew up on a farm or were around cattle. We sell fabric for a living, so every ounce of farm life experience has come to us the past three years. We learn what works, and what doesn’t, what to do, and what not to do. With each day, there’s something to fix, something to learn how to do better, quicker or easier. With that being said, we have watched seven calves be born on our farm. The seventh, “FBL Luna’s Starlight”, was born October 8th. She was a week past her due date and only weighed 37 pounds soaking wet. She was a darling, but something didn’t sit well with me. She wasn’t trying to get up much, and when she did, it was to no avail. She was just mostly laying still. Too tired to nurse. My gut feeling knew something was wrong, but I often panic, so we decided we would give her some time. We celebrated my dad’s birthday that day and hustled to a late ballgame. When we got back home, she was still in the same place. I knew she needed milk, so we gave her a bottle. It took her a hot minute to catch on before she drank it mostly down. The next morning, she was still laying in the same place, so we offered another bottle, which she didn’t have the strength to eat. We called the vet and awaited their arrival. This video shows the first moments of Starlight’s life. We named her after her mom, CBS Luna: “Luna’s Starlight”, and Starlight helps us remember the stars in the sky that night when we fed her at midnight on her birthday. We said a prayer for her and wished upon a star that she would be ok. ✨ We will share Part 2 in the next video.
