2 galleries in one week!! 🥰

This wedding from last month was elegant and so fun! There were candle clusters and candles in every corner and dinner was a heavy app menu to keep the dancing happening all night. These two are the sweetest couple and I am so lucky to have celebrated with you!

The Wedding Cake

This is probably one of the most popular wedding traditions, I mean is it really a party without cake, LIKE REALLY?!?!? I know this is a little controversial, but I am always a fan of cake.

The tradition of serving wedding cake is different in so many cultures, but most include good luck and fertility. But I believe this is the first task a couple does as a married couple. Throughout your marriage there will be many tasks you will complete together and some may be as easy or difficult as this early tradition.

With that being said, if you choose a different dessert, will you stick with the tradition of this moment being one of your first tasks to do together?

Wedding season has begun and I'm so excited about some really fun weddings this summer. One of the best parts of working with different couples is how the create their day. What traditions are they including or are they making new traditions. Or maybe they just don't want to do some part of a wedding.

Which got me thinking about "wedding traditions". Some are good and some are not. Some have changed and some are what are parents or grandparents or great-grandparents did. But the traditions had a purpose and I think you can update these "traditions" while still keeping some of the nostalgia. So, here begins my series on wedding traditions.

The most common one is not seeing your partner the morning of your wedding. While this tradition has been updated with First Looks to help with photography timeline and take some pressure off of the couple. The origin of this tradition dates back to when marriages were arranged and couples did not see each other until they were married. Apparently, parents were concerned that a groom could back out of a marriage after seeing the bride before the ceremony, which would only shame the family. This tradition evolved slightly with self selected marriages, but couples believed seeing their partner before the wedding would bring bad luck.

There's a few more traditions that include the threat of bad luck, but who really is superstitious?! So follow along for some more and maybe some couples fun twists on these traditions.
