Happy Birthday to Willie Hugh Nelson April 29, 1933, Abbott, Texas.
In the late 1950s, Willie worked as a radio DJ in here in Vancouver, WA. he'd introduce himself as a “cotton-pickin’, snuff-dippin’, tobacca-chewin’, stump-jumpin’, gravy-soppin’, coffee-pot-dodgin’, dumplin-eatin’, frog-giggin’, hillbilly from Hill County, Texas.” on his “Western Express” midday radio show on KVAN. His time working in the Pacific Northwest also inspired him to write classic songs “Crazy” for Patsy Cline and “On the Road Again”.
