“An Angel Walks Among Us”. Growing up this was an expression often used to describe that one person who with the smallest of gestures left an indelible mark on those around them. I have been blessed to know a few “angels” and sadly one of those angels, Shawn Nightingale was called home. For those of you who knew him, you know he could be both an angel and a devil. My heart goes out to Jay, Shawn’s family and friends.
I loved him so…he called me sister wife, a nickname he came up with one silly afternoon during one of our adventures.
Together, we founded Provincetown Cares, a non-profit dedicated to raising money, awareness and access for women’s healthcare on the Outer Cape and beyond. One of our crowning achievements was the creation of the Outer Cape’s first and only mammography suite at Outer Cape Health in 2013.
More than that he was my friend, confidant and champion. My brother from another mother, when I close my eyes, I see that sparkle in your smile and hear that joyful giggle. Love you always my friend – Sister wife
“Who can turn the world on with his smile? Who can take a nothing day and suddenly make it all seem worthwhile?
Well it’s you Shawn and you should know it with each glance and every little movement”…..Joan Jett (MTM theme song)
