When planning any event, consider how long people will go without food, how long they'll have to stand, and who they will be sitting with. As a rule of thumb, assume all guests will drink 2 drinks in the first hour and 1 every hour after that. The last you want to do is run out of glasses! Pro tip : Pack plastic cups as a back up to your rentals just in case!

Have you ever hired an employee? When you start looking for vendors, your initial consultation should be similar. Be prepared with a list of questions so that you know that whoever you choose for your big day is the right fit. Your first call should be just as much about you asking questions as them asking you questions.

Couples that want to do family photos after the ceremony, tell the people who are in the photos ahead of time and take it one step further and put everyone in a group chat. This will help people stay accountable for each other if they wander off to cocktail hour. Happy planning!

For my couples getting married outside, it's important to know where the sun will be, how your guests will face and how you'll feel outside on your wedding day. Do yourself a favor and do your final walkthrough at the same time as your ceremony time that way you can prepare with fans, umbrellas, heaters or shade. Happy planning!

Money is a tough subject when planning an event. The earlier that you talk about your expectations of spending with your partner, the easier the spending is. Anyone else get super excited about winter events for the colors? Just me, okay. I love a deep green or snowy whites but they might seem out of place in the spring. Consider the time of year of your event when picking your colors and decor.

Yes, as a planner, I love a good timeline, however, your guests do too. I am not encouraging you to give the whole timeline to them but the more details that you can provide guests (within reason), the less headache you will have. Our team likes to provide 3 timelines - one for vendors, one for important guests (ie bridal party) & one for all other guests. Need help? We're here to answer questions!

While guest favors are super popular in the wedding industry, there are ways for the host of the event to also remember the event (more than pictures and memories). Guest books, anniversary keepsakes and letters to each other are great things to pull out each anniversary to remember how great your day was!
