By thoughtfully mixing complementing luxe linens, weaving together rich textures, and curating dynamic tablescapes to elevate your event design while maintaining a refined aesthetic. For this gala, we alternated the layered placesetting combinations to add interest and create a cohesive look that was anything but ordinary.

It’s giving peach season. 🍑

We love a plated meal because it allows us to design two elements that we thrive at - a seating chart and tablescape. As a nod to our foodie influencer bride, we wanted to incorporate a seasonal ingredient into Beck and Jack’s reception. For a late July wedding with a true summer palette, fresh peaches were the obvious answer!

Their “Reservation for Laster, Party of 115” seating chart was adorned with guests’ es**rt cards and summer blooms, all set amidst Mexican handblown glassware. The pièce de résistance to complete this restaurant-themed display was a custom ‘Please Seat Yourself’ restaurant sign in their colorway!

We aren’t ones to shy away from floral maximalism! This Bridgerton-inspired reception featured a bountiful hydrangea-lined head table beneath 24 feet of suspended florals, a stunning wisteria canopy over the dance floor, and guest tables adorned with the lushest spring blooms. It was an unforgettable celebration of elegance and romance that embodied the beauty and colors of spring. 🌸

We are privileged to work with clients who leave a lasting impact on our lives far beyond their events.

Shortly after Olivia and Brendan got engaged, she and her mother contacted us to plan a surprise intimate wedding...and we had a few weeks to make it happen. This fun-loving family immediately made an impression on us - they exuded strength, grace, and perspective in a way that humbled and inspired everyone around them. Our team
orchestrated and delivered a magical surprise wedding amidst the skyline of downtown Raleigh for their family. And to us, they gifted us with much more.

On Global ALS Awareness Day, we remember Olivia’s dad, Jeff. While we only interacted for a brief time in his story, his warmth and infectious personality will stay with us forever. We were honored with the opportunity to have celebrated Olivia and Brendan’s wedding with him. Cheers to you, Jeff.

Today marks my two year anniversary of owning A Southern Soirée. In looking back at year two, we celebrated a full rebrand and website relaunch, heavily invested in education and development, established friendships and accountability groups with a network of some of the best planners across the US (shoutout to my Sweet TEA gals and mastermind cohort 🤍), and added more destination travel than ever before.

I’m incredibly proud of how much we have leveled up and am fired up in trusting that this is just the beginning.

Thank you to our vendor partners that continue to join us in our commitment to the highest standards of hospitality, as well as our amazing clients that trust us as their planning partners.

Most especially, thank you to the team of brilliant ladies who support my vision and goals for our company, always put in the work, and are enthusiastically willing to keep growing together. I love y’all.

These table number stands meticulously coordinated with the dinner plates adorned with laurel leaf motifs for a cohesive tablescape. This type of understated detail embodies the art of subtle design - while these thoughtful touches may go unnoticed by many, the delight and appreciation in the reactions of those guests who do catch them is always a true reward!

The spring bulbs have flowered while wisteria is in peak bloom all around and we are reminded of the pastel wonderland that was Shannon and Courtland’s wedding. The carefully selected varieties of tulips, hyacinths, peonies, garden roses, and hydrangeas…lots and lots of hydrangeas…created the most quintessentially cheerful spring reception. 🌷🌸🪻

Shannon and Courtland’s wedding cake held clusters of dainty blooms tied up with bows of vintage jacquard trim and French velvet ribbon in the couple’s palette. A gilded duogram and gold edging subtly infused their Bridgerton-inspired reception style into the otherwise classic white tiers. We even sourced an antique cake plate from London as a perfect accessory to the presentation.

Their cake design is another testament to our depth of thought behind every element, intertwining the overall vision with deliberately curated pieces to create uniquely personalized celebrations! ✨

Personalized touches, such as the calligraphed names on Alex and Andrew’s dining chairs, are conversation starters that engage your guests and create a closer sense of connection to the celebration. We design with these intentional and unexpected details that often go beyond mere decoration; they contribute to a more immersive and memorable guest experience.

For this particular idea, we had a calligrapher on-site during setup that scribed each guest’s name on their chair over the course of many hours. These surprise and delight elements often require additional planning and logistics to pull off, but the reaction from your guests are always worth it.

Selecting elements for tablescapes involves a thoughtful process that begins by choosing a base, such as a specialty table material, or in this case, a quality textured linen. Layering is achieved by incorporating tableware elements to create depth. For this reception, we chose a China pattern that complemented the overall design and anchored it with additional tableware elements that each added to the elegance without taking away from the intricate China or embroidered linen. The result was a beautiful and harmonious combination of textures, layers, patterns, and colors. ✨

Nestled in an Aspen meadow, this tent entrance was adorned with lush greenery that created a verdant gateway into Whitney and Peter’s reception. As the party continued under starry skies, a warm glow and sounds of merriment radiated from the tent into the serenity of the mountains that embraced it. The ways in which tents allow nature and celebration to converge are something of magic, making them some of our favorite events.

Sunny with a chance of ❄️ wintry mix ❄️ - okay, not really - but Hayley and Art’s enchanting icy blue and pearly white wedding is bringing the ultimate winter wonderland cheer to today!

And for the final part of our wedding recap series - the cocktail hour and reception! 😍

Pic 1 : Our cake, situated in our retro inspired lounge, had alternating tiers of classic piping and iridescent glitter. Between the tiers were Christmas greens, florals, velvet ribbon, tinsel, and shiny brites. The topper was my great grandparents’ 50th anniversary cake topper 🥹 and a pink ruffled tree skirt was wrapped around the pedestal stand.

Pic 2 : The big man himself welcomed guests to cocktail hour! 🎅🏾

Pic 3 : Hors D’oeuvres were passed on pink and red trays, and my mom got a personal delivery of “nabs”, Little Debbie cakes, and Dr. Pepper - a few Southern snack staples.

Pic 4 : A sleigh full of presents wrapped in an assortment of vintage wrapping papers.

Pic 5 : Guests sipped on hot cocoa as they joined cocktail hour.

Pic 6 : The focal point of the reception space was a square greenery chandelier with blue, pink, and red ribbons woven throughout, and was hung to offset the diamond dance floor layout.

Pic 7 : I will never get over our vibrant florals! The amaryllis, rose varieties, poinsettias in shades of red and hot pink, and nerine lilies were arranged beautifully with Christmas greens.

Pic 8 : We used apothecary jars filled with vintage ornaments as table numbers for another festive pop of color on tablescapes.

Pic 9 : Napkins with pink trim (to match the pink painted edges on the stationery details) were tied with red velvet ribbons.

Pic 10 : The dance floor was “wrapped” like a gift with ribbon and a bow in the corners (to mimic our invitations) with a duogram wreath in the center. The dance floor edges were pink, again going back to the pink edges of all our paper goods and the dinner napkins. 💕

It has been so fun to reminisce on some of my favorite elements from this merry day…thank you for following along! 🎀🎄
