The Hollows Community is excited to announce the establishment of it’s Community Garden at Eastgate Park, with help from the Raleigh Parks and Interfaith Food Shuttle. This initiative seeks to transform vacant spaces within our community into thriving green spaces with the goal of improving food security while promoting community engagement and sustainability. This new Community Garden will serve to foster connections, educate residents, and empower participants to contribute positively to their neighborhoods.Lynne Hebble, President of Quail Hollow Community Garden, shared her enthusiasm: “We’ve been working tirelessly for four years to bring this vision to life. Seeing our community come together to create something so meaningful is incredibly rewarding. This garden is not just about growing food; it’s about growing community spirit and fostering a sustainable future for all of us.” “I’m thrilled to see the level of enthusiasm and support from our neighbors. This program is a testament to what we can achieve when we work together.”Ainsley Worrell, Health and Wellness Program Director for the City, added: “This is a fantastic milestone in the Raleigh Parks’ community garden program. By transforming these spaces into productive gardens, we are not only addressing food security but also creating opportunities for physical activity and community interaction. It’s another important step in our efforts to foster community engagement and sustainability across the city.”To kickstart the garden project, a “Work Day” event will be held on August 3rd, starting at 7:30 AM. Over 25 North Hills residents, along with members of the Interfaith Food Shuttle Team and Raleigh Parks’ staff, will come together to build the 12 new raised gardens on the Eastgate Park property in the Quail Hollow neighborhood.
