We enjoyed today’s luncheon at City Hall with this month’s speaker Mayor David Sander. David received a Ph.D. in Molecular and Cellular Biology and led Rancho through the pandemic. He is also the President of the - From their website: “The National League of Cities (NLC) is an organization comprised of city, town and village leaders that are focused on improving the quality of life for their current and future constituents.”
Really exciting to see Rancho Cordova represented! Great to hear how innovative and collaborative we are as a city and how other cities are hoping to adapt some of our processes!

👐🏽 Give Back at the Winter Sanctuary

Rancho Cordova HART (Homeless Assistance Resource Team) is a volunteer-run organization seeking volunteers for its Rotating Winter Sanctuary. The program offers our unhoused neighbors a safe place to stay during the coldest nights of the year. Volunteers, ages 16 and older, are welcome, and shifts and hours will vary.

👐🏽 Become an Outreach Volunteer at the Sacramento Children’s Museum

Join the Sacramento Children’s Museum to provide children with a place where they can be inspired, challenged and nurtured. Volunteers will attend events in Rancho Cordova and throughout the region. Dates and hours will vary.

The Residential Micro Grant for example:
Do you have a great idea for your street, block or neighborhood? You dream up the project and apply, and the city could pitch in up to $500 to make it a reality.

Some major things being discussed at the City Council Meeting tonight! Starts at 5:30 for the regular meeting at city hall. Some highlights:
🔵 The city swears in our new Mayor and Vice Mayor and will have a presentation for outgoing Mayor Budge. 🇺🇸
⚪️ The Folsom Cordova Unified School District presentation on facilities and funding. 🏫
🔵 Discussion regarding a new contract with Atlas for residential trash collection and street sweeping. Not satisfied with your current trash provider? This is a chance to come support and influence a change! 🗑️

We had a day around town!

We started at Soil Born Farms to attend a tree clinic and pick up a new peach tree for our house. 🍑
🇺🇸
We then stopped by to donate some toys for toy drive and show our support for those donating blood in the Veterans Day blood drive. 🩸

We ended our afternoon at .craft.studio to celebrate their two year anniversary at their holiday market (we were pushing map time)! 🤍

The City of Rancho Cordova is developing a Corridor Enhancement Plan🗺️ to identify opportunities to beautify and enhance key corridors and entrances in our city. The focus of the study currently includes six corridors including Bradshaw Road, Old Placerville Road, Routier Road, Mather Field Road, Zinfandel Drive and Sunrise Boulevard.

The project will use creative designs that incorporate the characteristics and values of the community to establish a sense of pride and identity, including streetscape design, landscaping, wayfinding signs, sidewalk improvements and more.

We can’t wait to see you at the Animal Care Faire TOMORROW, Saturday, November 4th, from 11am-3pm at 📍 Bradshaw Animal Shelter, located at 3839 Bradshaw Rd in Sacramento.

Admission is free and dogs on leash are welcome.

Adoption fees will be WAIVED for dogs and cats at our shelter tomorrow, so please visit our shelter while you’re here and see who you fall in love with! The shelter will be open for adoptions during our normal hours, from 12pm-5pm.

We had the opportunity to attend the Rancho Cordova Luncheon where this month’s guest speaker was Sacramento District Attorney Thien Ho. DA Ho spoke on the unhoused and how Sacramento County can come together to help individuals struggling with addiction and mental health resulting in or contributing to their homelessness. There are no overnight solutions however his dedication and compassion to our community will be a great aid. ⚖️
