d traveled, and others actually performed in the first stage show at the Polynesian Cultural Center in Laie, Hawaii. The family eventually came to California, where Susiana, one of the daughters born in Samoa, has been entertaining and catering since the 1970′s. Today, many of the descendants, raised in the family traditions, continue to share them with your families and friends. Although we work with many resorts and corporations, we also love the large and small family gatherings. 🌺 Meet Lopati (one of our dance manager): Polynesian Dance Journey🌺

Lopati's love for dance began at the tender age of 7, but it was not until he turned 13, under the tutelage of his fireknife teacher Mel Liufau of Nonosina, that he truly mastered the art.

For Lopati, Polynesian dancing is more than just a passion; it’s a means to serve and uplift the community. Through dance, he has met incredible individuals and forged friendships worldwide, turning strangers into family overnight. Over the past 20 years, this art form has opened countless doors for him, including appearances on TV shows, commercials, news features, posters, magazines, and podcasts. Lopati has performed in over 20 states, judged fireknife competitions, and mentored the next generation of dancers.

In his early 20s, Lopati dedicated 4-5 hours daily to training. Now, he maintains a regimen of 2-3 hours, emphasizing that mental strength is just as crucial as physical endurance. He believes, “The mind always fails first, not the body. The secret is to make the mind work for you, not against you.”

Music fuels Lopati’s spirit, ranging from oldies but goodies to any genre that moves his soul—always keeping it clean and positive.

Looking forward, Lopati is excited to build a beautiful family with his soon-to-be wife, the incredible dancer Angelica Rodriguez. Together, they share a love for dance that enriches their lives.

Known for his determination and ability to motivate others, Lopati’s passion is contagious. He strives to inspire those around him through his dedication and enthusiasm.

At Islanders Luau, Lopati appreciates more than just the post-show feast (although who doesn’t love free food? 😆). It’s the unwavering support and challenges that push him to grow stronger. He cherishes this company and is eager to see what we achieve together as one united Ohana.

We at Islanders Luau proud to call Lopati our dancer, and dance manager. If you haven't seen him perform Siva Afi yet, it's time to book a Luau with us. 🌺🔥

Although May 4th has passed, we couldn't resist sharing this! We were thrilled to contribute to Chris and Autumn's fantastic wedding celebration, providing catering and entertainment for their special guests. As avid Star Wars fans, they had other special guests as well. Can you correctly guess the name of the R_____D____ in the video?

In New Zealand we say Kia Ora 🔥
The art of poi was danced my the Māori women to increase their flexibility and strength in their hands and arms, as well as improving coordination. Although this form of art looks easy, it takes dedication to master. Fire poi is performed by few that have fully embraced this skill with the confidence to light them on fire.🔥

This week's spotlight is on Jazzy, our dedicated dance manager. Jazzy's passion for dance ignited at the tender age of 5, and she has gracefully honed her craft for nearly three decades. With a profound love for Polynesian dances, she finds solace in expressing herself and honoring her ancestors through this art form. Jazzy finds joy in the inclusive nature of Polynesian dancing, as it brings together people from diverse cultures and backgrounds.

Devoting 2 hours a day, 4 days a week to practice, Jazzy continuously refines her dance skills. Her musical preferences range from hip hop to Jawaiian and Raggae, with favorite artists including Lauryn Hill, Tems, Snoh Aalegra, and Kolohe Kai. Born into a family of Filipino descent, Jazzy, the eldest of three siblings, was introduced to dance by her parents, particularly her mom who cherished Hula. Today, she shares her passion with her 6-year-old son, nurturing his love for Hula and Tahitian dancing, even delving into hakas together.

Beyond dance, Jazzy finds joy in snowboarding, exploring new cuisines, and fostering connections among people. She treasures her experiences with Islanders Luau, where she has encountered diverse cultures, forged new friendships, and embraced countless adventures. Leading a talented team of dancers, Jazzy takes pride in nurturing their confidence and skills, ultimately enhancing the delight of our audience. Grateful for the interconnectedness of her journey, Jazzy cherishes her role within our vibrant and dedicated team.

In today's post, we have the utmost pleasure in shining a spotlight on one of our invaluable Dance Managers, Annette. Her journey with dance began at the tender age of 8, captivated by the art of storytelling through movement and the vibrant allure of bold costumes. It's no surprise that she effortlessly dazzles with her performances in Hula and Tahitian dances, each step a testament to her dedication and passion.

Beyond the realm of dance, Annette finds solace and joy in the rhythms of reggae music, with artists like HIRIE and Stick Figure resonating deeply with her. Since joining Islanders Luau in 2018, her trajectory has been nothing short of remarkable. Starting as a dancer, she has since transitioned into a role where she not only dances but also manages and inspires several dancers within our community.

Annette's personal life is equally rich and fulfilling. She is blessed with a loving and supportive husband whose dedication matches her own, and together they cherish their adorable daughter, Leilani, who is just over 2 years old. Annette approaches every aspect of her life with boundless passion, infusing her work with Islanders Luau with her infectious energy and commitment.

We count ourselves incredibly fortunate to have Annette as part of the Islanders Luau family, where her talent, dedication, and vibrant spirit continue to elevate our performances and inspire all those around her. 🌺🎶

Dendrobium orchids are pretty amazing. We bought these to decorate for a luau on Sept 28th. After the luau I gathered up a few stems and put them in a vase on my kitchen table. Six weeks later, new blossoms keep opening up, with no roots to sustain the delicate flowers--yet they live!
