Nina the week before her wedding - I don't need a bunch of getting ready photos, just photograph us shutting The Standard down.

Me at 11pm watching Nina hold her drink and her dress because she has ripped every bustle, while her and Matt are surrounded by every friend that matters in their lives - After 15 years of weddings, these moments are I will always cherish as a photographer.

I don't care if your wedding is elegant, demure, emotional, a party, in a barn, in the city, huge, intimate, whiskey fueled or in a church basement.

Just be in love and be ready to love your day.

All I can say is that I absolutely can not picture any other woman more perfect for Konor than Nicole and there is no other person more perfect for Nicole than Konor. Oh and their entire bridal party was just ridiculous!

Today was a day that was spent pondering just how much our lives are intertwined. When looking back at how friendships are formed and how relationship are bonded, it really does humble me that the slightest change at one key moment in time would change everything I have today.

Tonight I am thankful for these two and our their lives have intertwined with me. This "photography job" has blessed me in ways I can not explain.

Oh hi everyone! I have been a little quiet this year when it comes to being present and sharing here. While I have enjoyed my time away but I also have had an amazing year! I putting together another recap video with all my travels, my weddings, my family and of course our little Bear being crazy and hurting himself. See you all soon!

Very rarely does life operate on the timeline we think it should be, and sometimes life makes us wait much longer than we should have to. But life also has a way of rewarding those people who wait. April and Jason had to wait much longer than they should have to have this moment, but boy was it worth it!

Today I kicked off my 14th season of photographing weddings. I also was able to photograph my last wedding that had to reschedule due the Rona sweeping through my industry. It was a day that reminded me in so many different ways, why I have been blessed to be able to do this for a living. Marann and Zach, thank you for rolling with 432 days of postponements and thank you so much for letting me a part of your day!

So with that being said, let's talk about burnout, depression, anxiety and imposter syndrome. Those 4 come in like a tsunami and tear at the very soul of the person. They are real issues attacking creatives like a sledgehammer right now. I know that for every person who publicly says something, many chose not to. Creatives, especially those whose primary income comes from that creativity, have been put through the wringer over the past 2 years. I have seen those 4 terms appear with more and more frequency over the past few months and we need to talk about it.

We also need to talk about opportunity at the same time though. Creatives spend years honing their craft, waiting and even praying for that opportunity to showcase their craft. To have that one moment, that one meeting, that one email that opens the floodgates, it's what we dream about. The cruel truth is that the opportunity we have desperately hoped for, rarely chooses to materialize when we are at our best.

So what happens when opportunity collides with depression? Or anxiety? Or burnout? Or imposter syndrome? This tough to hear, but that opportunity will not wait. It will leave as quickly as it will appear. You will have one brief moment and then that opportunity will be gone forever, so you HAVE to take action. Some of you reading this have already formed your retort and it usually starts with "You don't understand though, I….".

And that is why I wrote this post. I want to you to call me, email me, DM me, text me… anything. I want you reach out and take action. Being able to take this photograph while being paid can be traced back to just a handful of moments for me. Moments that I was able to capitalize on because of people close to me. I only offer to listen and maybe help you sift through the mound of unrealized hopes weighing you down. This is a tough season for creatives, but you are not alone.

It took me to the very second of 2021 to finish my wedding season! I rang in New Years with Kat and Mark while they were surrounded with the friends and family and even a few sparks!

2021 ... whew ... we got through it! 2021 was the toughest year I have ever experienced as a business owner but it will also be the year I am the most proud of. I send a heartfelt thank you to all of the couples that trusted me to photograph the most important day of their lives and a deep gratitude to all those people close to Elizabeth and I. Thank you so much for this year!

Lilly and Nate took me to Savannah to photograph their wedding. I left their wedding with a bunch of new friends and a love for a city that caught me off guard at how much fun it was. Thank you so much for letting me a part of your day!

Today I am thankful for an adventurous couple who braved the cold, a gorgeous pink sunset and the opportunity to be a photographer for couples like Rachel and Brian. The past 20 months have been a wild ride for my business but I am here and I am proud to be able to spend weddings days with couples that are just excited to finally be married!

On April 4th, 2020 I photographed Courtney and Christopher's mini wedding in a backyard. Today, 19 months later, we finally got to celebrate that wedding.

I was talking to one of my close friends in the wedding industry and I officially tapped out last week and determined that this year has been the toughest year I have experienced being a photographer, even tougher than last year. What has saved me this year is my couples. Kayce and Troy were the exact people that I needed to be around today. They were so in love, their friends and family were the perfect amount of ridiculous and it was just a beautiful fall day.

Today was such a good day.

I am starting to wind down my 13th wedding season and I want you all to know a few things about me and wedding photography. I don't love the grind of editing photographs, I don't love missing out on weekends, I don't love the day in day out hustle... but none of those things compare to how much I love the couples that I have had over those 13 years. Couples that have become great friends, couples who we invited to our wedding as guests, couples who have helped me through some of my toughest times... Couples like Tara and Kyle. Thank you to both of you for being such great supporters of my photography but more importantly, just me!

Nicole and Alex had their wedding in barn today. I know... but you see this is not just any barn, this is a 104 year old round barn that Alex's great grandfather built, his grandfather farmed in, his father is farming in and one day Alex will as well.
