LEMON WATER IS MY NEW GIG...

I've never been much of a water drinker. But I recently saw a little clip here on IG of how good lemon water in the morning is for you. So what the heck. At least drinking it out of a polka-dotted vintage glass is more fun than a bottle. Right?

Oh, and I found these seedless lemons at Who knew?? And that cute flowered tray?

IT'S FLAG DAY...

My one wish as the wife of a Vietnam veteran (and ironically his birthday is today on Flag Day) is that all retailers and vintage displayers out there learn correct flag etiquette.

Simply Google the words 'flag etiquette'...

The biggest no-no is using the flag in your set displays. Never drape it across anything. The flag should always hang freely. It should not be used to drape across a porch swing, or swirl around a mannequin, or tuck through the panes of an empty window frame, or scrunch it up on a fireplace mantle, etc.

THRIFTED VS. STYLED...

I bought this side table about a year ago at a barn sale for my cottage. I wasn't sure where it would end up but temporarily I used it for my record player stand. Today I decided to give it a facelift and put it on the porch. It has such sweet details like a scalloped bottom, cute feet, and the ever-so-helpful drawer.

FRESH SUMMER TABLE...

I love the mix of white and wood. And I'm digging my new, really vintage, petite table runner mixed with the buffalo plaid. I spent a whole $2 on it over the weekend.

By the way, the calendar says 'summer' but Mother Nature today is giving us 60° with lots of wind. So weird for summer in the Midwest!

WEEKEND VINTAGE BUYS...

The Funky Farm sale at the lake didn't disappoint... Both the unusual antlers and the Adirondack-style bedside table I passed on the first day. Then you know the gig. I went back the second day to sn**ch them up. Now I just have to figure a way that nobody pokes their eye out when they want something out of the dresser drawer!

And Mother Nature came through with a painted turtle laying eggs and a gorgeous sunset to boot!!

Nellie’s Story

As many of you know, Nellie’s began 15 years ago hosting a vintage tag sale in my yard--which then grew into one of the best vintage markets in the region. There were lots of sad faces, including ours, when we had to stop hosting the market due to my husband’s shoulder injury. But...on the bright side, that allowed me a huge open window of time to host a second Vintage Shop Hop each year. We’ve always had a spring shop hop, but now have added a fall edition to the line up! So, every first Friday and Saturday of March and October, you can now road trip to any of the 400 vintage shops and ladies boutiques that we gather together into one master list and google map.
