We had such an amazing Easter Egg-Stravaganza (Egg Hunt + Lunch)!

Volunteers brought in over 8,000 eggs and served a delicious lunch. We shuttled guests from the parking area to the egg hunt (thanks to all of our van drivers). Our bunny was the most adorable bunny, too, if you ask us. 😉

When I was ginormous and pregnant with my second child, I watched as a beautiful girl rode a beautiful horse down the streets of Ashland during the Christmas parade. As frumpy as I sat there, I made it my hefty goal to ride a horse the next year in the parade. My search for the perfect horse began and I found him.

Enter: Captain 🐴

If you have followed our farm, had us bring animals to your event or if you have visited us; you have met our beloved Captain. I always thought Captain looked like the coolest surfer dude and acted like a rockstar. 🤟🏼
Since opening up our farm in 2015, I have figured up that he has been a first time horse ride for MORE THAN 3,200 people (mostly children) in our community. He has cared for and safely packed hundreds of children for lessons and has served as the face of our farm during countless events that we do to bring farm life to city life people who are interested and curious.

Captain has been in most of y'alls wedding photos if you've been married here at my place. He's the only "big horse" that my kids would ride or really fool with. He could do tricks too. He was the smartest horse and had a heart to please his riders. Ask him if he wants a treat and he will shake his head YAAAAAS! Ask him to do his "Captain Morgan pose" and he will lift his leg up like the pirate on the rum bottle (I didn't teach him any of that; all credit goes to Ms. Tammy Gill). Anytime we needed a star, we brought Cap.

This morning was a terrible day for us and a big dose of heavy farm life facts where animals become family and eventually have to go on. The quiet comfort of knowing ol' Captain isn't here is absolutely numbing for all of us, but as Pooh Bear says:
