YOUR ELOPEMENT ANNOUNCEMENT…to your friends and family! 🎉

This is not “bad news” that you’re breaking to your loved ones. It’s an exciting, romantic announcement of your plans to celebrate your love in a way that makes you and your partner happiest. When you frame your elopement announcement as an apology or a negative conversation, it sets the stage as such. In other words, it shows your loved ones that this is not good news for them and that they should feel negative about the situation.

There are countless ways to include your loved ones in your day, both in-person and otherwise!

Here are some tips around announcing your elopement!

👉🏼Prepare them by dropping plenty of hints before hand

👉🏼Remind yourself why you are eloping and then convey it to them.

👉🏼Share the exciting news face to face

👉🏼Find a unique and meaningful way to involve them in your day

⛰As you have discussions with your partner about your elopement vision, remind yourselves to immerse all five senses into your experience — this is often a key characteristic of a core memory. Oftentimes, when you recall a core memory, the emotions paired with the recollection are so powerful that it’s easy to recall what all of your senses were experiencing. For example, is there a certain smell that takes you back to a very particular time and place? Is there a song that transports you to a specific memory? As you have discussions about your elopement vision with your partner, if you’re able, consider your senses as often as possible. Immerse yourself in sensory experiences that are pleasant for you — snack on a food you love, play some of your favorite music in the background, etc.

⛰These memories are so special. Don’t forget that! Planning an elopement is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and as you reflect on this time later on in life, you’ll want your memories to be as clear, accessible, and tangible as possible.

👀 It’s no secret that weddings can be insanely stressful. Will your guests like the catering? Is anyone going to notice the flower arrangements? Are party favors necessary? Will it be awkward if people don’t dance?

Blah.

If you don’t think it’s worth stressing about, then you don’t need to let yourself stress about it. How cool is that? Couples who choose to elope often ditch the biggest stressors on their wedding day. If you don’t have guests to cater to, you won’t have to worry if anyone likes the food! No flower arrangements? No problem! Party favors? Forget about it! Dancing? We feel very strongly that two people are enough for a dance party, so there you have it.

—You can ELOPE however the heck you want!

—There are absolutely no limits to what your elopement can look like. Couples are constantly pushing the boundaries for what creative, wild, adventurous antics can happen during an elopement.

—You can have your elopement in whatever location you want, celebrate however you want, make it last as long as you want, and invite whoever you want. Set the rulebook on fire and roast marshmallows on it!

—You don’t have to elope in the mountains. You don’t have to hike 12 miles to get married in a beautiful location (spoiler alert: there are so many accessible, easy-to-get-to locations for intimate ceremonies). Your elopement can be boujee, or laid back. It can be free of drama, and it’s no less meaningful than a traditional wedding.

—If something is important to you, it can be included in your elopement day – if there’s a will, there’s a way! Your day should truly represent *you,* and if that means doing something totally out-of-the-ordinary, then DO IT! I am an elopement photographer and photography business coach who finds joy in creating beautiful moments for all people and helping people navigate and transform their businesses to fulfillment. I created a community of photography business owners who needed support creating a sustainable business model that truly aligns with them. We are passionate about celebrating everyone on their journey and supporting the growth of these entrepreneurs – while having a blast doing it!. We are transitioning from an Elopement photography business to launching a brand-new all-inclusive Elopement business offering for those who want to elope, but don’t want to handle the planning and logistics of it all. As an Elopement Photographer, you will be the person traveling to and shooting the events – without having to handle all of the administrative aspects of running your own business. Write them down, frame them, tattoo them onto your forehead (okay maybe not the last one) - and DON'T COMPROMISE THEM.

Those are your core motivations for doing what you're doing. If you feel like they aren't your reality, it's not too late for them to be.

All you're missing is boundaries — clear outlines for yourself and your clients that help you maintain a positive relationship with your work and with one another.

I always hear my clients talk about what other people want from their elopement shoot. It's always “my mother wants this,” “my friends did that,” “I was thinking of doing this, but I’m not sure what so-and-so will think.”

TBH, it’s a nope from me to all of it. 🙅‍♀️

I’m a firm believer that your elopement should be entirely about you both. It should be a celebration of your love and all of the things that make you unique and joyful. ✨

Of course, you can consider the opinions of others, but at the end of the day, my point is this: don’t compromise the uniqueness and joy of your experience for anyone else. It’s your day, so why not make it as “you” as possible?

It’s why I LOVE elopements! Being able to help a create a day aligned with them is so dang fulfilling! 🥰

✨ Embrace the messy of your day no matter what happens.. because that is life that is a marriage. There will be imperfections and messes and we can choose to let it get to us or embrace it and move on!

❤️ Like this day with L & C at ! This venue is known for their tall redwoods and epic ceremony location…but it rained, so here comes a big tent to cover the guests for the ceremony. Although it wasn’t the view they dreamed of or hoped for…

So….no matter what happened that day they did what they came to do…get married and celebrate with people they love! 👏🏼

You can be the most introverted…”I’m so awkward”, “I don’t like to be in front of the camera”person and that won’t stop me from creating a fun environment you will totally have a blast in, so I can bring out all of that love and joy to capture! 🥰
