AUDITIONS FOR THE MUSICAL COMEDY MURDERS OF 1940
It’s not a musical, it’s a comedy. There isn’t a single murder, but there might be four. The action begins at midnight, in a mansion not too far from Broadway, in a blizzard, with a power failure. If you’re ready for a fast moving, satiric romp, in classic (think Casablanca) costumes, you’re encouraged to audition.
Homegrown Productions is holding auditions on August 22 and 23 at 7 pm at the Wilson Center Auditorium, 101 W. Cass Street, St. Johns. Performance dates are October 6-9. For more information, email [email protected] or [email protected].
Hope to see you there!

"Christmas in St. Johns" is this Friday and Saturday! Did we mention that there is NO ADMISSION CHARGE to see this terrific mix of songs and stories?
Instead of a fixed ticket price, we invite you to make a donation in any amount to support our newest auditorium improvement project: new and efficient heating and cooling!
You will notice the need for modern temperature management. Right now, the auditorium is chilly. As a matter of fact, we encourage you to dress warmly for this production. Bring a blanket if you'd like.
December 3 and 4 at 7:30 pm in the Wilson Center Auditorium, 101 W Cass St., St. Johns.

Failing in my efforts to edit the the event page, please note several important details about "Leaving Iowa":
1) General admission tickets are $15.00
2) You can purchase your ticket the night of the performance at the box office in the Wilson Center.
3) To maintain safe distancing, some seats will be blocked off. Don't worry! The auditorium seats 400 people, so there will be plenty of space for your party to find seats together.
3) We encourage mask-wearing inside the auditorium.
4) As long as weather permits, the meet-and-greet with the cast and crew after the show will take place outside the main doors of the Wilson Center.
5) Performances are September 30, October 1 & 2 at 7:30 pm, and October 3 at 2:00 pm. That's one weekend only!
Don't miss this gem of a production!

Did you know that the Wilson Center in St. Johns is only 21 minutes from Eastwood Town Center? It's an easy drive to rehearsals and performances. Why don't you see for yourself by auditioning for "Leaving Iowa" on March 9 or March 11?

From Bruce Bennett, a terrific comedic actor and friend:

“Truly a fantastic show. I had the great pleasure of playing all 19 other roles (script was slightly edited -mostly re-arranged- by Tony Caselli, with the authors full, and enthusiastic permission) when we did it at the Williamston Theatre. You should have seen me backstage, throwing costume pieces on and off. Tony's edit was actually the published script for a couple of years, and then Clue and Manton thought it might get more rentals with another actor to cover the roles. Nah, I like it better with one. And it's so damn touching at times, too. We had people crying every performance. A wonderful, hilarious script. You will love doing this show.”

Homegrown Productions Annual Christmas show December 6 and 7

Since 2009, Homegrown Productions has added to the holiday spirit in our community with a musical variety show. This year we are proud to present “Uh Oh, Here Comes Christmas,” a play based on the books by Robert Fulghum. Heartwarming stories and musical interludes look at the struggle to find the spirit of the holidays amid the avalanche of commercialism, stress and chaos that crashes down every December. Delightful stories include hilarious musings about a love/hate relationship with the vibrant poinsettia that arrives in most homes every December and hangs on long after the holidays have ended; and a beautiful, deeply moving tribute to the winter solstice, celebrating nature's precious annual gift of rebirth.

“Uh, Oh, Here Comes Christmas” is directed by Beth Webb and Susan DeRosa. This year’s cast members are Sara Craft, Susan DeRosa, Jan Ross, Darryl Schmitz, Beth Webb, and Tom Webb. This is a family friendly show. Performances are December 6 and 7 at 7:30 pm at the Wilson Center Auditorium, 101 W. Cass St. Tickets are $10 at the door.
