Mad Hatter’s Closet provides fun and creative fiber and clothing art for members of the community while promoting inclusion, mental health awareness, and the joy of creating.

Student will get to pick out their own hat color/style, learn to use new artistic tools and work with recycled materials to add in their own style. The Mad Hattress herself, KateLynn Rentz of St. Joseph, Minnesota, has been creating unique and custom costumes, props, and sets for community theaters across the central Minnesota area for over 12 years. My costuming services focus on creating a body positive experience for people with of all body types with an emphasis on a safe space for LGBTQIA2S+ community members. I have grown my costume wardrobe to include over 1,000 individual pieces, including vintage dresses and suits, Halloween and character costumes, shoes, accessories, hats, masks, and more. Over 90% of these costumes are donated or thrifted from the local community. ‘Textile Recycling’ is one of the main focuses of my costuming. As a child, I always had an extraordinary need for a creative outlet in my life and now as an adult I have decided to follow my passion for creating works of art into a formal business. Over the last four years, I have grown my small business and although the type of art works my studio has produced has changed my passion for it continues
