🌟 🌟 We're thrilled to share that our CEO, Jeanie You , was interviewed on WMNF Community Radio 88.5 FM as the pilot for the Disco Pirates Krewe in Red Bull Flugtag! 🎙️🏴‍☠️🚀

Reminder that the event occurred just after TampaBay was hit by 2 back to back hurricanes.

“Timing was really going against us, as I’m sure it was for all of the teams,” said Jeanie. “From the moment we found out we were selected as a team, all these tropical storms and damages to people’s property occurred,” she added. “We had to figure out what to do and balance all these pieces of working with the insurance companies, doing the repairs on our property, while still working our job, while working on this craft and our skit.”

“I feel like being a woman in this case is kind of our super power, because they’re not going to see what’s coming,” she added.

“After two major hurricanes in just 13 days, the City of Tampa is still standing, and now, it’s time to fly,” Tampa Mayor Jane Castor said. “We can’t wait to welcome all the fans and competitors in November and witness some epic launches into the bay.”

Eno, the legendary composer and producer, reflects on his journey from glam rocker to ambient music pioneer, making each screening a fresh experience. It's a fascinating way to explore his creative process and ever-evolving musical philosophy.

Brian Eno, born in Suffolk, England, is a legendary composer, record producer, and visual artist. Best known for his pioneering contributions to ambient music and electronica, Eno has also made significant impacts in rock and pop music. He began his career with the glam rock band Roxy Music before launching a successful solo career. His albums, such as "Discreet Music" and "Ambient 1: Music for Airports," helped coin the term "ambient music". Eno has collaborated with numerous artists, including David Bowie, Talking Heads, and U2, and has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Roxy Music.🌟❤️

🌟 Remembering Alfa Anderson 🌟

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Alfa Anderson, the iconic lead vocalist of the legendary disco band Chic, known for timeless hits like "Le Freak" and "Good Times." Alfa passed away on December 17, 2024, at the age of 78.

Alfa was born on September 7, 1946, in Augusta, Georgia. She began her musical journey early, composing her first song at the age of three. She later pursued education, earning degrees from Paine College and Columbia University. Despite her focus on education, her passion for music never waned. She made her professional debut with jazz saxophonist Cannonball Adderley in 1976 and went on to record background vocals for artists like Dionne Warwick and Roy Buchanan.

In 1977, Luther Vandross introduced Anderson to Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards, leading to her joining Chic as a background vocalist. Following the departure of Norma Jean Wright, Anderson stepped into the spotlight as Chic's lead vocalist, contributing to some of the band's biggest hits. Her powerful voice and stage presence helped define the disco era.

After Chic's initial dissolution in 1983, Anderson continued her musical career, touring with artists like Luther Vandross and Gregory Hines. She also returned to education, serving as principal at Brooklyn's El Puente Academy for Peace and Justice. In 2017, she released her solo album "Music From My Heart".

Alfa Anderson's legacy will live on through her music and the countless lives she touched. Rest in peace, Alfa. You will be forever loved and remembered.

🎶✨ Fatboy Slim (Norman Cook) recently shared some heartfelt news with his fans: he's lost his passion for making music. While he continues to enjoy performing live and DJing, he admitted that creating new music no longer brings him the same joy it once did. Cook shared with Billboard Magazine, “For five years, I tried to beat myself up about it and go, ‘You should be doing this,’ but then I thought, ‘Well, everybody likes my DJing and I enjoy that more, so I’ll do that”

We can learn a valuable lesson from him: as we change and evolve, we should focus on what we are passionate about and not beat ourselves up about what we feel we should be doing. Let’s keep embracing our true passions and enjoying the journey! 🎧💃🕺

🚨 Join the Krewe! 🚨 The Disco Pirates Krewe is looking for 4 volunteers to be Security as we march in the Gasparilla Pirate Fest Parade on January 25, 2025! 🏴‍☠️✨

This is a great opportunity to be IN the Gasparilla parade (even if you're not in our Krewe). You'd basically be marching alongside the float to make sure Krewe members are staying far enough away to not be run over. Food, drinks and a bathroom will be provided (as well as a security vest for you to wear).

Requirements:
Age: 21 or older
NO alcohol consumption during setup and during the parade for security reasons.
