Meet Craig Moore, Sounding Brass' trombonist!

Craig Moore earned the Bachelor of Music Degree in trombone performance from the Elder Conservatorium (Australia), the Master of Music and Post-Masters Certificate in trombone performance from DePaul University. His primary teachers were Charlie Vernon, Floyd Cooley, Robert Hower and Howard Parkinson. Craig has performed with the Utah, Virginia and Richmond Symphonies, the Utah Chamber Orchestra (Ballet West), the Adelaide and Queensland Symphonies in Australia, the Auckland Philharmonic in New Zealand, and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra's MusicNOW series. He was also a regular member of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago. Craig is the adjunct trombone professor at Utah Valley University and Westminster College, and formerly was a member of the brass faculty at Christopher Newport University.

Meet Mandi Barrus, mezzo-soprano, Vocal Dimension - Opera Works’ first little pig!

Lyric mezzo Mandi Barrus is a musician and opera producer. With her "impressive technique and clear tone", her “warm and cozy mezzo-soprano voice” is "a breath of fresh air". Mandi is committed to music education; she maintains a private voice studio and has coached over 300 voice students; recently co-directed and music directed "Seussical KIDS," "Frozen KIDS," and "Addams Family Youth" with Egyptian YouTheatre; and maintains an active membership in NATS.

Also in-demand as a performer, Mandi will sing Mercédès in "Carmen" with Opera San Luis Obispo, will collaborate with Utopia Music and Salt Lake Symphony on “Shakespeare and the Symphony”, will be the alto soloist in Holladay's "Messiah," then will sing The Witch in “Hansel and Gretel” with Rimrock Opera. Mandi holds a Master of Music degree from the UofU and sings at St. Paul's Episcopal as the Mezzo Artist-in-Residence. She lives with her 3 children and partner, composer David Campbell, in South Jordan.

Meet Alex Harrelson, Vocal Dimension - Opera Works’ incredible tenor! 🎶

Alex Harrelson is a 24-year-old tenor from Tryon, North Carolina. He is pursuing a DMA and studies with Dr. Robert Breault at the University of Utah. Alex has recently performed in several leading roles in educational and professional settings. In February, he sang Count Almaviva in Lyrical Opera Theater's production of “Il Barbiere di Siviglia.” At the U of U Opera, he has performed Marley, Fred, and Bob Cratchit in “A Christmas Carol,” King Kaspar in “Amahl and the Night Visitors,” Rinuccio in “Gianni Schicchi,” the Defendant in “Trial by Jury,” and Ferrando in scenes from “Cosi fan tutte.” He has performed as Gastone in “La Traviata” with the Janiec Opera Company at Brevard and Lindoro in “L’Italiana in Algeri” with La Musica Lirica in Italy. Most recently, he performed as the White Rabbit and Mad Hatter in Amy Scurria’s new opera, A.L.I.C.E., at the University of Utah Kingsbury Hall.

Meet Anita Miller, one of the great artists and educators of Prevailing Winds! 📯

Anita Miller is Principal Horn for Utah Chamber Artists, 4th horn in the Ballet West Orchestra, member of Aspen Winds (NOVA Music Project resident artists), and plays frequently with the Utah Symphony as well as other Salt Lake area groups. In addition, she is also a successful studio musician and is Adjunct Professor of Horn at Utah Valley University. Before settling in Utah, Anita was a successful freelance horn player in New York City. There, she performed on numerous Broadway shows, was a member of the Radio City orchestra, and taught at both The Fieldston School and the Music Advancement Program at Juilliard. Ms. Miller also has a Masters degree from the Juilliard School where she was a student of Jerome Ashby.

Ricky Parkinson, bass and big bad wolf

Always a fan favorite, Ricky is thrilled to bring his long-sought-after villainy to the younger crowd.

His eclectic musical endeavors have taken him from a ca****la groups (BYU Vocal Point 2006 ICCA champions) to opera ( Lyrical Opera Theater & Utah Opera Chorus) to early music (9 seasons with Utopia Early Music ) to musical theater. He has performed at Pioneer Theatre Company (Olin Britt in "The Music Man"), Hale Centre Theatre (Smudge in "Forever Plaid") and Hale Center Theater Orem (Javert in "Les Miserables"), West Valley Arts (Ichabod in "Sleepy Hollow") and CenterPoint Legacy Theatre (Henry Higgins in "My Fair Lady" and Chauvelin in "The Scarlet Pimpernel").
