The Best Advice I Can Give You……

Do Accurate Research 🧐

📝 Take the source into account. When was the information published? Where do they live - is it close to your local or destination wedding?

📝 Pinterest can be a liar. You might not have the budget to replicate a vibe from your favorite viral pin, but don’t be discouraged. Consider an intimate wedding. You can make your budget go further and still achieve something closer to luxury design.

📝 Understand your venue (especially) if you book it before your planner. You want to make sure their rules and requirements are in alignment with your goals before committing to a contract.

You’ve said “Yes”, brunched & posted your ring to death... What’s next?

We fully support the “engagement glow”, but remember — don’t sit in that space for too long. In weddings, things can move fast.

Here are 4 Steps to help you start planning:

💍 Set Expectations

You and your partner may have two VERY different visions of what your wedding + planning journey will be like. Try to get on the same page or at least in the same book.

💍 Establish your Guest Count

This sets the tone for EVERYTHING going forward.

➡️ Venue Space, Rentals, Food, Drinks, Service Packages can/will be impacted by how many people you plan to invite

💍 Determine the Budget

➡️ This is said with so much love… the days of a 100+ person wedding with all the “trimmings” for under 20K are gone.

✨PROTIP: Intimate weddings are a great compromise if you’re looking to make your budget go further and still have a dreamy, high end aesthetic.

💍 Hire your vendors

➡️ I recently did a poll, 53% felt that you should your Planner before the Venue.

✨PROTIP: If you want to lock in your venue prior to your planner — don’t panic — make sure:
1. The venue rules are in alignment with your wedding vision
2. If the venue has any requirements for booking (EX: catering) that those vendor minimums are within your budget
3. Whether you are looking for a planner or a coordinator, you’ll have a smoother planning journey if you book them sooner rather than later.

I had NO IDEA this was a thing… (⬇️)

Not too long ago one of my brides told me she was interested in hiring a Wedding Content Creator and wanted some insight on where to find a vendor.

I let my bride know that this wasn’t a vendor that I was familiar with and I’d do some research then get back to her with insight and info. Here’s what I’ve learned:

🤳Origins?
Wedding content creators are bridging the gap for couples who want quick turn around. Getting wedding photos and videos back can take weeks/months. There’s nothing wrong with that - but with a content creator you can get some footage to share as early as the next day.

🤳Investment?
It depends on the packages each vendor offers. You can expect anything from a couple hundred to a few thousand dollars. Like with hiring any other vendor, you need to have a clear budget and defined priorities.

🤳Advice?
Do your research — I can’t stress that enough and don’t be afraid to ask questions. Do their service package make sense to you? Does their style match the other vendors you’ve hired? What kind of equipment do they use, etc.

I was INDIFFERENT to weddings until ⬇️⬇️⬇️

Harry and Meghan’s.

Flashback to 2018. Let’s call it my heartless era. I was working that weekend in the salon trying to catch any moments being played in between shampoos and blow-drys. At that point in my life only one or two of my friends had been married and this was right before my husband and I met.

I remember the close zoom in when Harry saw Meghan enter the church. The look on his face was everything. I knew that if I didn’t see any combination of the facial expressions Harry gave then the guy I married wasn’t the guy for me (my husband passed the test and then some 😉)

That first look/ first touch (private or in front of everyone) between nearly weds is my favorite part of weddings. I live for that look of pure awe, joy and devotion when clients see each other all dressed up and I am so grateful that I continually get to see these moments in my career.

COUPLES: Don’t Forget Your Detail Boxes

If you’re the type who loves personal touches and can’t wait to have those images for your own wedding gallery - here are some tips for putting together your own wedding details box:

• Prep your detail box before your wedding day so that you’re not scrambling the morning of.

• Check with your florist to see if they have any extra blooms/greenery to enhance your photos.

• Ask if your photographer has any flat-lay props already or if you have your own - put them with the box.

• Make sure your planner/coordinator or wedding party member knows about the location so that no one is coming to you.

I have a background in scenic, costume and makeup. I have been trained to see a project from start to finish from multiple angles. Tablescapes also happen to be my favorite part of wedding design. Yeah it’s a movie and the line was meant for a laugh, but even today it still makes me a little sad how deep the sentiments and struggles in that throw away line of dialogue cut deep for a lot of people.
