I spent hours searching Reddit on the “biggest wedding regrets” and one of the MOST COMMON regret was “inviting guests we didn’t actually want there…because we felt obligated to”
WHY did they feel obligated?
The most common response:
👉 because their parents wanted them there.
Other responses:
👉 because it’s a distant cousin and they felt bad
👉 because it’s an old high school friend that reached out asking assuming they would get an invitation, and they didn’t know how to say no.
👉 because it’s their friends small child and they won’t come without their child, even though it was a child-free wedding
👉 because it’s their coworker and they felt awkward not inviting them
👉 because they simply didn’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings.
Soooo, why do these couples feel regret from this?
👉 Weddings are EXPENSIVE. Every guest attending, adds on a huge expense to the couple.
👉 They didn’t get that “intimate” vibe they wanted, because of the guests who they barely knew or weren’t close with.
👉 feeling obligated to invite everyone resulted into a larger guest count than they initially wanted or felt comfortable with.
👉 feeling anxious and like you can’t let loose and be yourself, due to the strangers in the room.
👉 having to deal with certain guests that have personalities you don’t like, or bad behavior in general
Amongst many other reasons…
This is a STICKY subject. Especially when it comes to parents paying for the couples’ wedding, and the couple feels obligated in that situation. I hear this one ALL the time!

Food: food that is WARM, brought out on time, and enough to fill up your guests and not leave them HANGRY!🤬
Late Night Snacks: After drinking & dancing all night, guests will REALLY appreciate you having some munchies for them at the end of the evening. It doesn’t have to be fancy!
Open Bar: Who DOESN’T appreciate unlimited drinks at a wedding?!?!!?
Easy access to water: Please, please, PLEASE if you are having a ceremony in the SUN and it’s hot outside, have a water station in the ceremony location for guests to easily grab water to cool down.
Comfort: proper air conditioning , shade, not being left out in the burning heat or cold for too long , not having to stand for too long. 🥵
Good music: Guests WILL notice if you hired a awesome DJ that can appeal to all ages and keep the party going.
Timing: Guests WILL notice if your cocktail hour is 2 hours long or they are waiting forever for dinner to come out… they will start to get bored and irritable and antsy!
Bathrooms: Clean and enough bathrooms for guests. No one wants to enter a dirty toilet or be waiting in line for 20 minutes every time they need to use the restroom!

Sweetheart tables may be slowly phasing out! 👋
It’s getting more and more common for us to see couples choosing to sit at the table alongside their wedding party / guests.
I think it depends on each couple individually and their personality’s.
Some couples NEED alone time and a moment to themselves, and a sweetheart table may be better suited for them! (Hello introverted girlies! 😅)
This lets them have some time to themselves during dinner, without constant interaction from others while eating.
Other couples want to spend as much time as possible socializing and interacting with their guests, and that’s why it’s a great idea for those type of couples to sit with their guests during dinner!
