I’ve always loved how the vessel that contains the flowers contributes to the overall story of a piece,
how its form informs the shape the flowers take and the way its material and finish add another layer of texture and dimension to the design, the color itself becoming part of the palette. so creating my own ceramics has unlocked a whole new realm of possibilities when it comes to the overall composition and how i approach my art.

this piece was inspired by the subtle ridges and slight curves of a bamboo stem, so I wanted to explore a more linear composition to really showcase the form of the vase.

if I’m honest, the shape feels a little uncomfortable to me, but perhaps that means i’m trying to push beyond what feels comfortable and safe to me, feeling pulled to make, take risks, and letting go to find a new perspective among the flowers again

The other day I met a woman who was just starting her journey in flowers. Her love for the craft was palpable, as she shared with me the excitement of going to the flower market to select her ingredients, the sheer delight of putting together an arrangement and having the opportunity to do so.

“Keep that feeling close to you,” I told her. “Keep flowers and your love of them close to your heart.”

It was a reminder to myself as much as it was for her.

There’s this funny thing that happens when you turn your passion into a business. often times that initial spark — the unhindered joy of what drew you into the craft in the first place — ends up hidden amidst the demands of making money and finding validation from the outside world.

i think inevitably we’ll all go through seasons where the grind of business making overpowers the joy of making, but I’m grateful for the moments that call me back to the place where this all started. Just a girl and her flowers — creating something simply for the sake of creating, for her body and soul to feel loved and alive by using her own hands to make something beautiful.

“As Asian Americans who are continually navigating what it looks like to celebrate these time honored traditions in a modern age, we wanted to create imagery that both reflected our roots, but also our present.”

so much of my identity as a Chinese American is connected to food, so a couple years ago I was inspired to recreate one of my beloved childhood dishes with flowers. now I can’t look at cream stock without seeing scrambled eggs.

part of a collection inspired by stories of home and heritage, you can read the full story from when I made tomato egg for a family gathering at the link in my bio!

who else ate tomato egg growing up?

2022 was unlike any other. it came with a lot of transitions both personally and professionally, and as we enter a new year i feel like I'm finally learning to find peace and purpose in this liminal space.

for me, these transitions gave way to questions of identity, as I explored new pathways and stepped out into the unknown. instead of asking what should I be doing, how should I be, I started asking who am I? who do I want to be?

I want to stay soft and sensitive to who I am in this moment and the changing world around me. giving myself permission to change my mind as I encounter and embrace the complexity of people's humanity, including my own. I want to stay open to learning about myself and others, reminding myself that my perspective is limited and that this life is a journey. and that the best I can do is just be honest with myself and grant others the space to do the same.

to find freedom in not knowing
to make space for discovery
to be okay with changing my mind
to embrace different seasons of being
to love and be loved in the process

it feels good to live this way.

here's to living and loving more authentically in 2023.

the juxtaposition of these juicy florals on top of battered cardboard boxes set against a partially cut backdrop.

an unintentional reminder to self that beauty can be found in imperfect, unfinished spaces, and that these intersecting moments of contrast are what allows me to value and appreciate beauty all the more.

it's finally happening. we are putting the finishing touches on our new website and will be launching it TOMORROW!

as i combed through galleries of our past work and tried to put into words the heart and soul of this business, it was humbling to be reminded of where we started, how we have grown, how we are still growing.

all the beauty we have created with so many of you along the way.

it has been a huge labor of love to bring this to life and felt like a long time coming (maybe because it has been about 6 months in the making! haha) but i'm so excited to share it with you all!

there's something about the fleeting nature of flowers that forces me to stay present with them. to appreciate their beauty in the moment, and find it anew as they fade.

their transience is both humbling and challenging. a reminder that though life is short, in every season there is an opportunity to find beauty anew again. especially when placed near others beholding a beauty of their own. there is a chance to breathe life into those around us if we choose to see them as valuable.

this piece is full of flowers seemingly at the end of their life, but here, together, they create a new beauty

when we were developing our rebrand, we created a list of words and phrases that would capture the tone and feel of our business.

quiet strength was the one phrase we kept coming back to over and over again with each design decision.

I think it is because in so many moments of creating or running this business I have not felt strong, but it has been in smaller, quieter, gentler moments where I, whether on my own, and more often, through others, have found the strength to keep going, and hope to encourage others to do the same

when we started this business, I had no idea what it would grow to be, the people we would meet, the things we would create.

at the time, and still now, my hope has been to reach beyond the wedding industry, and while we will still create for weddings, last year gave me the space and courage to explore the different ways we could use flowers, and more specifically how we could use the medium of flowers to tell stories. stories that have been silenced. my story. your story. our stories.

stories of human connection, love, beauty and hope.

as we enter this new chapter, my heart is for this to be a space to remind people that they are loved, a place where people would feel loved. I want it to be a place that inspires beauty amidst the difficulties of life, a reminder of beauty when it is hard to find.

we've been moonlighting as a hand model and working with to create a couple shoots for their first-ever release of herbal wine, Hibiscus Pinot Noir, Winter 2021. it has been such an honor to journey with and watch her persevere and push past all the obstacles thrown in front of her and make this all a reality. so so proud of you for becoming one of the few African American female owned wine companies in the country and grateful to call you family. thank you for trusting me with your vision and something so close to your heart!

pre-orders are now live so be sure to order your bottle now on their website!
