tip thursday - if that's not a thing, it is now!

coincidentally, this one is (kind of) about tips! now, we know that weddings can be a big expense, especially here in the bay area. we often are asked about suggested tips for vendors and while we do have a guide that we send out to clients for those who would like to give financial tips, one of the BEST tips you can give your vendors is totally free! what is it?

a great review!

think about it. when you visit a new restaurant, there's a good chance that you check the reviews, right? do you sometimes wait to see what other people think about a movie that just came out before going and buying a ticket? and of course, we all rely on amazon reviews to tell us the full story about a product we're interested in.

vendors are no different!

good reviews are SO important in the wedding industry. weddings are typically one of the biggest days for the to-be-newlyweds and rightfully so, they want to find the right fit for them and make sure that whoever they're hiring won't leave them high and dry. so, if you're already married or once you do get married, consider leaving a review for your favorite vendors so that other couples can get to know them from someone who was already in their shoes!

are you ready for another reason you should hire a coordinator/wedding manager?

we make sure to work in enough time for you to eat before doing anything else! for example, sunset photos often tend to fall right around the dinner portion of the evening. this can make it a bit tricky since, of course, we want our clients to be fed first and foremost! whether this looks like extending the cocktail hour, moving dinner a bit earlier so that there's time to eat before photos, setting out for sunset photos earlier, or just moving some other micro-events around, we make sure it gets done!

don't worry, we're gonna break this one down!

first, talk with your to-be spouse to figure out how much money you actually want to/can spend on your wedding. this can include money that's already been saved or even planning to set aside a certain amount in each upcoming month before your wedding! coming up with a real number here will benefit the entire planning process.

the second step is a bit more flexible (if you're not comfortable talking about money with family and/or just want to handle it all yourselves, that's totally okay!). some family members may be eager to assist financially with your wedding - again, talking in real numbers will be a great help with next steps!

the third step may be the most important determining factor of ANY wedding - you'll need to know roughly how many guests you want to invite, or alternatively you can use your budget to help guide you in creating your guest list! as an example, for a lower budget wedding, a more intimate guest count can help stretch your money a bit.

this is also where your priorities start coming into play - if phenomenal food is the most important thing for you to have at your wedding but your budget is firmly set, you can play with the guest count a bit or even review and adjust how much you want to spend on other vendors.

one of our favorite ways to make a wedding more interactive is by including a live painter.

throughout the process, guests are encouraged to watch as the artist brings the scene(s) to life, and sometimes they're even allowed to help with a brushstroke or two! it's a way to both provide entertainment and have something beautiful and tangible to take home from your wedding.
