Final message to attendees '63 Reunion:

Greetings SMHS class of ‘63 alumni. Our 60th reunion event is quickly approaching. We welcome you to a celebration, which will be essentially and figuratively a “once in a lifetime” experience. For starters our reunion will be shared with the class of ‘63 from Aragon High School, the first class to graduate from the then new high school “up on the Alameda.” Most of the ‘63 AHS graduates had attended SMHS and were our classmates prior to the opening of AHS. Secondly, as fate and genetics have inevitably determined, we have become fewer in our later years of life. This reunion celebration will likely be the last for the remaining members of our respective classes. So, this is a very special occasion and the planners representing both high schools have made an extraordinary effort to create a celebratory context honoring our generation and uniting us in the memories of our shared experience. While this event evokes the past, it brings us to a presence, which also marks our passage as keepers of knowledge and wisdom, which continue to influence and guide our families and communities. So, let’s celebrate!

The posting above provides complete, detailed, and descriptive schedule of activities in photo form. Hopefully, for those who will be staying at the reunion hotel, you have successfully completed the registration process. We look forward to seeing familiar faces, sharing stories about our lives during the past 60 years and overall having a good time.

Hello San Mateo High Class of 63’ Alumni. My sincere apology for not keeping you better informed during May and June. The truth is that I had open heart surgery on May 5th and suffered severe complications for the last 2 months. I am now on my way to a limited recovery.
My team has never stopped working and we ARE going to celebrate our 60th Reunion October 6,7, and 8th 2023.
Invitations will be sent out by the end of the month and due to my delay, I need a fast turnaround.
This is going to be the best Reunion ever and I look forward to seeing you all there.

Respectfully,

Bob Greene

April Update.

I am pleased to announce that Tommi Hill has volunteered to take on the task of verifying the status and contact information of the San Mateo Class of 63’ Students. The goal of this task is to confirm addresses of those interested in joining us at the October 7th Reunion. We will be sending invitations in late June. I encourage you to send your current contact information to Tommi at [email protected].

Call your favorite friends and encourage them to do the same. Let’s try to minimize phone calls, as this IS a lengthy process.

And finally, Dennis Viri and Doreen Gilletti have graciously volunteered to assist Tommi in her quest. My thanks to them.

Let’s have a GREAT REUNION.

Bob

March Review,

I continue to update our alumni list and those who are interested in attending our October Reunion. I have signed contracts with the San Mateo Elks Club and Beresford Park. These venues may change if I find a better Venue. Although I think we have the best bang for our buck, maybe I can find something even better. The DATES WILL NOT CHANGE.

In April, I will contact those wonderful people who have volunteered to help me. We will have our first meeting at Windy City Pizza in San Mateo.

That’s all for now,

Bob

A little treat for you from a previous class reunion. Not sure which event this was as we are all still fairly young. See who you can identify and remember.

Classmates,

I’ve been very bus the last 60 days working on the reunion and am pleased to say that I am making progress. Here are just a few of the highlights.

1. I have contacted all valid emails and have an idea of how many are enthusiastic about attending. With our first responses to email only, 65 have expressed a desire to join us. Next comes the addresses and phone contact. My goal is to fill the 132 chairs.

2. I have visited 4 different venues, reviewed their menu’s and received quotes from each. As I suspected, the San Mateo Elks Club was by far the best choice for many reasons. If you want to socialize, drink, dance, listen to great music, space to walk around beyond tables, appetizers, and the best food in town, that would be the Elks Club. Also, it is close to SFO and all the Major Hotels. Spending 3-7 days on the peninsula, can provide more memories. I have signed the contract and left a deposit.

3. I personally visited every park in San Mateo. I narrowed it down to Coyote Point, Central Park, and Beresford Park. The costs for all were all about the same. The difference for Beresford was in the activities available, the beautiful grassy areas, and the extremely clean, well managed facilities. Facilities include Bocci, Tennis, BBQ’s, Bathrooms, picnic tables, and large grass areas with benches. I signed the Beresford contract and left a deposit.

Next on the agenda:

Contact my volunteers
Start calling classmates (those without emails) and offer invitations
Mail invites to those with no emails.

Last but not least, how do we make it special and memorable.

Looking forward to seeing you all there.

Bob Greene

I am pleased to announce that I have created our own email address. [email protected] This will allow me to send announcements directly to you and give you an opportunity reply back with questions or additional thoughts.

I will continue to check in on Facebook and Classmate but will no longer have to prey that people will read or respond to my posts.

I currently have 1/2 the classmates email addresses. Please send me the addresses of people you know would like to attend and I will add them to the list.

Finally, reply back if you received this email.

Thanks in advance for your help,

Bob Greene

Hello Classmates of 1963.

The holidays are upon us and I would like to wish all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

This year will be our best year of health and happiness and do hope you are looking forward to seeing old friends and dancing the night away. We are all in our 70’s and the list of people capable of attending our 60th reunion is getting shorter. So please make an effort to come and share your stories with your classmates. Let’s not forget that the San Francisco Bay Area is a terrific place to visit. Example: Monterey, Carmel, Tahoe, Wine Country, and of course San Francisco.

Last but not least, tell me if you’re coming. Yes and how many. Maybe. No. This will help me plan venue’s.

Thank you in advance for your support.

Attention Class of 63’
I need to test the effectiveness of Facebook as a communications tool. Please respond to this Post whether or not you’re interested in attending the San Mateo High School 60th reunion. Responding to this Post will help me understand the level of enthusiasm and plan for the events.

Thanks

Bob Greene
