In honor of the WHOPPING CRANE FESTIVAL, we want to remember our special friend, who we fondly named "WHOPPER", a lone Whooping Crane who joined up w/ a gang of Sand Hill Cranes and wintered at Knolle Farm in 2017 .. He returned the next year, & seemed perfectly at home here w/ his other crane friends; but, never came back after the 2nd year. We do miss his funny, giant white body in the midst of the seemingly diminutive grey ones; although we were delighted to get to know him and felt privileged
He made quite a stir, w/ cars lining up on the road to catch a glimpse of him, but, he was totally unconcerned about cameras, people or otherwise. -- What a fun blessing and special memory! Safe Travels, Whopper, wherever you are!
