Traffic impacts
Project work is underway. Starting on Monday, June 10, bridge work will close Hwy 23 (Hwy 61) between Sandstone and the T intersection to get to Askov. Traffic will be detoured on Hwy 123 until approximately June 28.

About this project
The project includes 7.48-miles of pavement rehabilitation to Hwy 23 from the northern limits of the urban section in Sandstone to Merchants Street (Kobmagergade) in Askov. No work is proposed at Bridge 9792 (over I-35) and Bridge 58002 (over Kettle River).

Summary of work
A combination of mill and overlay, and cold inplace recycle
Adding turn lanes
Geometric revisions at the junction of TH 23/TH 18
Culvert repair and replacement
Storm sewer additions
Intersection lighting revisions
Approach panels and bridge end post replacement on Bridge 9791 over I-35
Guardrail replacement
Replace mailbox supports
Tree removal
Sign replacement

Essentia Health is proud to support our Sandstone, Minnesota, neighbors in their development and expansion of Panther Park playground. Earlier this year, Essentia presented $10,000 to the City of Sandstone to add a toddler play feature to the park.

The feature will be added to the playground this summer, helping children of all ages stay active and healthy.

This Saturday, April 27th, the Sandstone History Center will be open for the season! Our hours will be 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday. Come discover and explore Sandstone's great history! If these hours don't work, please contact this page or one of our volunteers, and we will try our best to open the building just for you!

The 2024 season is dedicated to "The Rock," and we will be hosting several special presentations about our beautiful, historical school.

This Saturday at 1:00 p.m., we will have a special presentation held at the new Sandstone Public Library. Dave Anderson, a 1966 Sandstone High School Graduate, will be presenting his memories of his time at "The Rock." We will then have a presentation from Val Palmer, Sandstone City Council Member and EDA Chairperson, who will talk about the current construction going on at "The Rock" and the City's plan for our beloved, historical building.
