We are deeply saddened this morning and stand in solidarity with our brothers and sisters of the Lake County Sheriff's Office - Florida. Our deepest condolences to the family of the deputy who made the ultimate sacrifice serving their community, and to the families of the two fellow deputies who were also shot during this tragic incident. Our thoughts are with all those impacted by this tragedy.

WILDLIFE: Seminole County's incredible wild animals are a treasure, but encounters with bears, bobcats, and coyotes require caution. Prevent dangerous encounters and keep wildlife wild by remembering these tips:

🗑 Animals have an incredible sense of smell. Secure trash cans, pet food, fallen fruit from trees, and bird feeders to avoid attracting them and keep their diets natural.

🐾 Protect your pets and livestock, especially during dawn, dusk, and nighttime when wildlife is more active. Keep them on a leash or inside.

🐻 Never feed wild animals - it can alter their behavior. Admire them from afar and give them space to thrive in their natural habitat.

🦊 Report encounters or conflicts to the MyFWC Florida Fish and Wildlife Northeast Regional Office by calling 352-732-1225 or visiting myfwc.com.
