This entire wedding design started with inspiration from one of the classic china patterns…from the embossed invitations to the reception linen patterns, each green and white detail was curated based on their preliminary inspiration! From the huge floral arch with baskets of hydrangea at the base to the floating hydrangeas in the lily pond, re-carpeting the ballroom to make the linens really pop to all of the cane detailing in the chairs, candles, and bar accents…this quietly luxurious design was so warm and inviting!

Lindsay + Nick wanted to juxtapose a modern, clean design against the historic Santa Barbara Historical Museum. I had so much fun playing with different textures: velvet, concrete, glass/acrylic, plaster, ceramic, and textured greenery/blooms. We had so much fun bringing this design to life…from bringing in full sized olive trees to creating custom lampshades with hanging tulips, designing and building custom concrete vases to lighting ALL the candles…it was such a fun design to bring to life (in just a few hours!). We also loved how the guests were greeted by burros as they arrived, an electric violinist as they sat down for dinner (complete with a black violin to compliment the overall aesthetics), and multiple fun food stations to enjoy throughout the evening. Even the cake (by ) was designed to perfectly match the bride’s . Such a fun and beautiful night!

It has been a busy summer around here! From several amazing weddings to a unique nonprofit fundraiser, our team has been operating on all cylinders. We have lots of new followers on here, so I just wanted to say: thank you for following along! It’s an honor to have you cheering our team on as we produce events. For those of you who are new, here’s a little bit about me:

1) I’m a Family man. and I have been together since high school. We have three kids and one on the way. My family is my “Why” - I work hard to support them and more importantly, intentionally create a beautiful life.

2) I love coffee. I love freshly baked bread. I love Italian food - especially a late night pizza. And I love chocolate chip cookie dough.

3) I love to read. One of the main highlights of my year has been reading my 11-year-old Harry Potter out loud. And yes, I do the voices. All of them.

4) I’m an introverted extrovert- I love people, but after being around people, I’m so incredibly tired and need alone time.

6) I love flowers. A lot. And I love seeing a full design come to life. And I love the look in the guests’ eyes when they feel the “magic” as they enter a transformed space.

One of my favorite moments as an event designer is seeing the space once the sun sets…there is always such a magical transformation: pinspot lighting, warm uplighting, and ALL the candles always creates such an amazing warmth and glow.

Pro tips for cocktail hour:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1) Have a mix of highboys (tall cocktail tables) and some lower ones with seating (and/or lounges). You want to make sure you have seating available for any guests who need it.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2) Have the service team tray pass drinks as the guests arrive. This alleviates lines at the bar. Our rule: “everyone should have a drink in their hand before they ever visit the bar.”
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
3) Have a clear seating chart for dinner. And even if it’s super clear, have someone standing near it to answer guest questions and help them know where to go.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
4) We love an element of live music in cocktail hour! It really sets the mood. From a string quartet to a jazz trio, acoustic guitar to a harpist, consider having an artist play to entertain your guests.

5) Make the bar a statement. Everyone will visit the bar, so in addition to having enough bars and bar tenders (we recommend one per 50 guests), make it a design moment! From adding custom wallpaper to including customized cocktail napkins and signage, making your bar feel personalized is a great way to elevate your cocktail hour design.

A true “pinch me” moment: a welcome drinks celebration in the Old Library at Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland 🇮🇪. From the moment I stepped in this space on our first site visit, I knew it was special. I love old books, and seeing the volumes on the multi-story shelves (and the incredible staircases!), and taking in all the incredible history was just amazing. To bring in our supplies, we walked through the rain in Dublin balancing florals - what an adventure! As the guests entered through the museum, getting a private showing of the Book of Kells, they were greeted with bubbly and canapés, as the string quartet played. I’ll never forget this night - it truly felt like magic.
