We are saddened by the passing of John Nichols, acclaimed local Taos author of such classics as The Milagro Beanfield War and The Annual Arsenic Bog Fishing Contest. We honor his legacy in the Collected Works community and fondly remember the warm conversations we were so gifted to share with him. Here he is from our visit last year, signing his memoir, I Got Mine.

So long, dear friend.

Monday the 9th is Indigenous Peoples' Day. Here is a stack for reading recommendations, and come check out our bookshelf dedicated to Indigenous fiction and nonfiction.

To recognize Indigenous Peoples' Day is to act in solidarity and to act in resistance.

We will be closed tomorrow, on the 9th, and will reopen again per usual on the 10th. We wish everyone a safe holiday.

Emily Wilson's much anticipated translation of the Iliad has arrived!

"Of all the questions this poem raises — about war, death, rage and grief — none is more resonant than this: What does it mean to be a man? And specifically, what does it mean to be a man during conflict? How do you respond when your city is attacked, when your honor is questioned, when your loved one dies?" - Natalie Haynes, New York Times
