"I recently lost my sweet dog and I didn't know what to do with his ashes. After doing some research I decided to use The Living Urn to plant him a special tree. The process was super simple and the instructions tell you exactly what to do. I honestly love how it all turned out and I feel so much more at peace now." 🐾 ❤️‍🩹

A beautiful memorial for your beloved four-legged family member - thank you for sharing..

"Nearly half of deaths globally are accounted for by people aged 70 or over. This has been the case for a long time and, as such, we are taught to associate old age and death from very early on in our own lives. This means that many people will have learned to see the death of a grandparent as 'normal' or 'expected,' and may see it as something one should accept as an inevitability rather than mourn over." ❤️‍🩹

My boss at the time didn't think my granddad's funeral warranted compassionate leave because he was "just a grandparent."

The death-care industry, like any line of work, has had to learn to adapt to an evolving consumer and environment. But with a funeral home being a unique type of job, it does bring its own set of challenges.

"My experience is very common...It's things like people asking how your parents are doing, but they don't ask you how you are doing. Or if they find out you lost a sibling, the first question might be, “Were you close?” as if your answer to that will determine whether or not you're allowed to be grieving or the extent to which you're allowed to be grieving. But we grieve imperfect people. We grieve imperfect relationships, sometimes even more so or more complicated than if you were really close." ❤️‍🩹

Annie Sklaver Orenstein, author of Always a Sibling: The Forgotten Mourner’s Guide to Grief, tells Morning Edition that grief is complicated but there are simple things someone can do for those going through it.
