It’s Houseplant Appreciation Day! Here are a few tips to ensure you’re not overwatering your favorites:
💧If your plant is green, well-watered and struggling, you may have overwatered. Only water when the soil is dry to the touch.
💧If the leaves turn brown and wilt, this may be a sign of overwatering. Check the soil to see if it needs water or if this is due to another cause.
💧If a plant has absorbed more water than it needs, it can cause the plant’s cells to expand and stress, rupture or blister. These areas may turn dark or white or you may see indentions on top of leaves.
💧If you have yellowing and new growth falling from your plant, this indicates overwatering.
💧Root rot is also a sign of overwatering. If this occurs, it’s best to remove the plant from the garden bed or a mixed pot to ensure the disease does not spread.
