Saturday night's derby was an unforgettable experience. Despite a torrential downpour that turned the track into a muddy mess and left us without power or arena lights, the event persevered. As tensions rose, Wil Steinbeck took the stage to assure the crowd that the derby would continue—with one stipulation: the national anthem had to be sung.

With no sound system or microphone available, the responsibility fell to the audience. In that moment, the grandstands erupted as the crowd began to sing in unison. Tears of joy filled our eyes, and chills ran down our spines as we witnessed a heartfelt display of American spirit.

Cheyenne County, let’s hear it for the first annual Rubber Check Race winners! 1st was Diamond 9 fencing, 2nd M2 Performance, and 3rd went to JB Trucking! 1st also took home a nice buckle!

The Cheyenne County Fair Board has gone live to draw the winners for the beef raffle. Due to the inclement weather last night at the demo derby, we had to postpone the drawing until today. Your winners are:

All winners will be notified and given additional information about the processing. For those that aren't familiar with the raffle, we offered 4 chances to win a 1/4 beef with processing included. Tickets were only $25 each. That's a load of beef for only 25 bucks.

What happens when 1.2 inches of rain falls just before a derby? You find yourself pondering all the possible challenges ahead: a muddy arena, a slow-moving storm, and a power outage. Just when you're about to call it and cancel the event, a miracle occurs.

While we were speaking to the ticket holders, Wil Steinbeck was busy organizing a driver's meeting. The derby drivers had come to put on a show and were determined not to leave without doing just that. With no power and no clear timeline for its return, the drivers made a bold decision: the derby would go on, no matter what.

As they revved up their cars to line up in the arena, another miracle happened—the power was restored! A huge thank you to Wheat Belt Public Power District for making the night possible. We quickly brought in heavy equipment to clear as much mud and water as we could, and the flags dropped at 8:35 PM. We even managed to sell over 300 additional tickets!

Three heats, a $100 man run for the kids, some slip and slide mud action, and a lawn mower race later, we wrapped up the night at 10:30 PM. It was a testament to a community that refuses to lose hope, no matter the circumstances. We are truly grateful to each and every one of you who stood by us and kept the faith. What a show it was!

Day 8 of 8!

As the sun sets this evening on the last day of fair week (presented by Ron’s Towing Sidney Nebraska), mixed feelings will fill the air. After a week packed with fun, laughter, and hard work, it’s time to look back on the memories made. This week brought families and friends together through exciting events and competitions, creating lasting bonds. For all the volunteers, dedicated 4-H members, and others who worked hard to make the fair a success, the early mornings and late nights will finally be over. As we gather one last time to share smiles and stories, we feel grateful for what we’ve created and look forward to the next fair with anticipation.

This morning starts at 9 AM with the livestock auction, a day when the hard work of our 4-H members pays off as they sell their animals and say their final goodbyes. We invite all community members and businesses to come to the livestock pavilion to show support for these dedicated 4-Hers, whether by purchasing an animal or simply attending to cheer them on. Let’s fill the Vitalix Pavilion with our community spirit and encourage these young participants as they celebrate their achievements! We've also got a special and heart warming announcement to pass along from last night's special guest Dylan Wheeler.

Theres something for everyone to do at the fair today, so stick around after the auction and enjoy all the activities we have to offer. Heres a few highlights happening throughout the day:

-After the auction, buyers are invited to a buyers appreciation lunch in the 4H building.
-2 Flying Debris Shows at 1 PM and 3 PM in the commercial building
-Trwisted Rich Hypnosis will be in commercial building at 5 PM
-Adrenaline Alley will be open from 5-9 PM
-Finally, the Demolition Derby (promoted by Wil 'B' Urs Promotions and Wil Steinbeck)with lawn mower races mark the end to fair week, starting at 7 PM. Don't miss this event featuring a special guest who will perform the national anthem in sign language. The granddaughter of one of our top sponsors, Lazy S Ranch, will take center stage for this unique performance!

Don't forget about our MONSTER MEAT giveaway happening today during the demolition derby. We've got 4 chances for you to win a 1/4 beef, fully processed, for just $25 per ticket. You do not need to be present to win.

Day 6 of 8!

Music lovers, we've got a lineup for you the next two nights featuring 4 artists! Tonight, Thomas Mac hits the stage at 7 PM, opening for American Idol Season 19 winner Chayce Beckham. Bust out your dancing boots and get ready for the party of the year. Long lines are anticipated at the ticket office, so get there early if you don't plan on buying your tickets online.

Adrenaline Alley kicks off today from 5-9 pm, with unlimited access for just $5. Featuring bounce houses, mechanical bull, rock climbing wall, and VR Gaming Trailer, your kids will have plenty to do to keep them entertained.

Be sure to check out the businesses and Nebraska State Patrol just west of the food vendors, along with the vendors in and around the commercial building. And don't forget to show your support for 4H by visiting the animal barns.

Need to add some beef to your freezer? How about 4 chances to win a 1/4 beef for just $25!? With meat prices being high, this is a perfect opportunity to fill your freezer for a very low price. Day 5 of 8!

Get ready for a one-of-a-kind racing experience! It's time for the thrilling Rubber Check Race Relay, featuring a unique combination of 2 horses, an ATV, and a wheelbarrow. The excitement begins tonight with gates opening at 6:00 PM and the race kicking off at 7:00 PM.

To avoid long lines, we recommend arriving early to purchase tickets at the ticket office, which opens at 4:00 PM. Alternatively, you can purchase tickets online in advance to ensure a seamless entry.

This special event is also dedicated to honoring our heroes. It's Military, Veterans, and First Responders Appreciation Night! Show up in your uniform or bring your credentials, and you'll receive FREE ENTRY into the event. Simply visit the ticket office to claim your complimentary tickets.
