Gastonia, our hearts are heavy. Our streets are weeping.
In just a few short months, we’ve lost Zaquavious "Tank" Dawkins (16), Brandon Sullivan (17), and Shamiya Walker (16)—three bright, promising young souls taken from us far too soon.
Tank, a devoted son and student, was killed while running an errand for his mother.
Brandon, a recent graduate with a future full of hope, lost his life just a week before his 18th birthday.
Shamiya, vibrant and full of promise, was gunned down on Christmas Eve.
These weren’t just headlines. These were our kids, our neighbors, our future.
And I can no longer just watch and grieve—I have to act.
That’s why I’ve started the YOUth Culture Club—a safe, creative, and empowering space where young people can grow, heal, and thrive. We officially open full-time on April 7, but the work begins now. This is not just a one-day event or campaign.
This is my life’s work. This is every day. I will be here every single day fighting for our youth, mentoring, listening, loving, and helping to rewrite their stories.
Join us for "Reclaim the Youth", a day of community healing and action—but know this is only the beginning. Let's stand together, pour into our youth, and build something lasting.
🕊️💔 Let's honor the lives we’ve lost by saving the ones we still can.
