Once the frost has lifted and the soil is workable, start preparing your garden beds. In winter, soil tends to become compacted, so the first thing you want to do is loosen it back up by tilling or turning it. Using a tiller or a sharp spade, work the soil to a depth of 12 to 14 inches to loosen it up.

Pansies will tolerate freezes and frosts, so gardeners can plant them as early as April 1 here in Michigan. They will flower profusely all spring and if old flowers are removed, they will most likely continue through the summer.

It's April. I took some pictures today because the SUNFLOWERS are blooming. If you look close of the single sunflower, you'll see a bee. 🐝The early fall varieties of MUMS are really coming on nicely. In another month, when I post more pictures of the mid-late fall bloomers, you will see so much beauty!!! ALL of the MUMS are perennials!! The mixed pots are still my favorite. THANK YOU everyone for the amazing year we're having. The early MUMS are blooming!!! I can't wait to see them tomorrow. ALL of the MUMS we carry are PERENNIALS (perennials come back. "Annuals" do not.) However, if YOU want to keep them as such, they will have to be planted before the ground temperature drops in late Oct/early Nov. We have early, mid, & late blooming mums in various sizes/pots/arrangements/colors, *lots of colors*, plus other fall plants including flowering cabbage & kale, "pumpkin on a stick" (it's an ornamental eggplant), mixed pots with or without grasses, grasses by themselves, some remaining ONE GALLON containers of $8 hostas; day lillies; garden phlox, & perennial grasses *Karl Forester & Dwarf*, let's NOT forget all the SUNFLOWERS & herbs too. The floral shop is open year-round for all your needs.......& we still have a couple months left for the garden center this year too.🌻🌾🌼🌞🌞🌞 Come check out some gorgeous plants folks. We’re open today from 9:00 am- 2:00pm. I will be taking pictures of the Garden Center. We have 16 Mum colors to chose from, ranging in sizes from 4”; 8”; 10”, 12”; 14” & hanging baskets. We have many assorted MIXED pots to choose from, including pots with grasses in them. The flowering kale 🥬 & cabbage 🥬 are maturing & getting large now also. Stop 🛑 in today for some good deals on beautiful 😻🤩 Fall plants. The pumpkin 🎃 on a stick, (an ornamental eggplant) has lots of “pumpkins” on the plants.
