Lunch from 1130a-1p at The Dock today!

We are taking it a little easy today...gave our staff the day off because we have a big weekend coming up.

Today we will have a Community Meal from 1130a-1p at The Dock. The kitchen won't be open but we are excited to bring your smoked pork from Eric Weeks and Smoke Daddies. We will also have chips, pop and our favorite brownie (unfrosted, but still amazing!).

We have a couple other events to take care of this weekend so we will not be open, nor will we have any community meals until Monday. We will see you for breakfast on Monday morning!

Today Wednesday, July 3, we're offering a Continental Breakfast with the addition of an egg bake.

Our Community Lunch will feature Turkey & Noodles, while the Community Supper meal is Subway Sandwiches, generously sponsored by Josh Gardner and Briana Lunn with Liberty Dent Repair. We have 500 sandwiches available for supper, so we strongly encourage everyone to join us!

On Thursday, July 4, our kitchen will be closed. We'll only be offering the Community Lunch from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM. We're excited to host Smoke Daddies' smoked pork, served with chips and our delicious homemade brownies. Approximately 200 meals will be available.

Please note a change in our schedule: We will be closed Friday, July 5 through Sunday, July 7, and won't be hosting any community meals during this time. We have two catering jobs this weekend and need to focus on those. Additionally, we're preparing for two busy food truck weeks ahead at the BV County Fair and our first trip to the Pocahontas County Fair.

Starting July 8, we'll offer community breakfast Monday through Friday and will continue to schedule community lunch or supper on different days. We'll coordinate with the community calendar to ensure we offer meals when there isn't anything else available during the week.

We're open and serving the public from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM today (Tues., 7/2)

Important note for tonight's supper (5:30 PM - 7:00 PM):
We are serving as a pick-up location only for the free community meal provided by CrossCut BBQ. Pick-up at The Dock is limited to 200 meals. They will also have more meals available for the community at their location at Hy-Vee in central Spencer.

DoorDash Update: We briefly reopened DoorDash yesterday but have temporarily paused this service due to inventory challenges. We plan to gradually reintroduce DoorDash over the coming week, opening for short periods as we manage our stock. Please keep an eye on our DoorDash store for updates.

We had a question about our last post that we wanted to address before the weekend.

This new graphic outlines the free meals available to the community at The Dock, our hours of operation, as well as the weekend meal plan for evacuees at the Red Cross shelter. We hope having the menu ahead of time online here is helpful to those staying at the shelter as well as those in the community.

Iowa Lakes campus is offering public access to their ice machine as supplies allow.

Please note:

- Availability is limited and on a first-come, first-served basis
- Ice production is ongoing, but may not meet immediate demand

If you haven't heard, the shelters have been consolidated and moved the the Clay County Fair Event Center and we have some changes to share.

Today, we're offering public meals at The Dock, with options for breakfast and lunch. We will be closed after 4PM daily to clean, reset and rest. (Check our previous post for those details.)

For those who have been evacuated, meals are also being served at the Event Center Shelter.

We want everyone to know that The Dock is not just for meals - it's also open for those who need a place to cool down, connect with others, or simply take a walk indoors.

Whether you're looking for nourishment, a brief respite from the heat, or a chance to connect with neighbors, our doors are open to the public.

Important Update on Disaster Relief Services at The Dock (WED 6/26) Please read all the way through as we have some free items listed near the bottom for those in need.

As we continue our disaster cleanup efforts, The Dock is adapting its services to better serve our community. Starting today, all shelter residents will be relocated to the Event Center after breakfast. This will be our last hot breakfast service for evacuees here, though we'll continue offering cold breakfast items while supplies last.

We'll maintain our daily shelter and community lunch at The Dock from 11:30 AM to 1 PM, but dinner will no longer be provided here.

**For those in the shelter, both lunch and dinner will be delivered to the Event Center daily.**

Our hours for the general public this week will be 7 AM to 4 PM Wednesday through Friday, and 9 AM to 3 PM on Saturday and Sunday. This weekend schedule will continue until further notice. We're adjusting our hours to ensure our staff can rest and recharge.

We also have a limited number of free freezer meals available, distributed one per person while supplies last. Additionally, we're offering cardboard boxes for those who need them. Please take only what you require, as we'll replenish the supply daily to ensure everyone's needs are met.

Please note that this schedule may be subject to change as we adapt to evolving needs. We'll provide updates on next week's plan as soon as possible, though we believe we should be back to normal operations then. If you have any questions or need more information, don't hesitate to reach out. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation during this challenging time.

We're a little tired, a little sore, but we are all off to the races and already slinging pancakes at The Dock!

UPDATE FOR TUESDAY 6/25

We're offering FREE meals during our main service times:
7:30AM-9:00AM | 11:30AM - 1:00PM | 5:30PM - 7:00PM

Between these hours, our kitchen offers our usual menu, including soup and salad bar for lighter options.

We're also open as a cool, safe space for anyone needing refuge from the heat or looking to connect with others. Feel free to come in and catch up with neighbors.

Elderbridge Agency on Aging is the local area agency on aging providing the following services for any person aged 60 and older who has been adversely affected by the recent and ongoing flooding:
1) information and referral services,
2) assistance in completing FEMA or other financial assistance forms,
3) referrals to appropriate agencies for safe housing, food, clothing, or other necessities,
4) referrals into case management

Spencer Flood Crisis Update: Community Meals Available at The Dock

In response to our ongoing emergency, McCreary's Creative Catering at The Dock is providing free meals for affected community members:

Breakfast: 7:30-9:00 AM
Lunch: 11:30 AM-1:00 PM
Supper: 5:30-7:00 PM

Today's menu includes comforting options like egg bakes, goulash, and tacos.

Elderbridge Agency on Aging recipients: Lunch pickup available at The Dock (North Mall at Iowa Lakes Community College, Spencer).

**Please note that MEALS WILL NOT BE SERVED AT Occasions UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.**

For those able, a donation jar is available with proceeds supporting our emergency response efforts.

Anyone on Spencer's north side is welcome to come to The Dock for supper tonight, located at the North Mall. Supper will be served inside at The Dock starting at 5:00PM.

Our café is proud to serve our community during this flood crisis. We're providing hot meals and helping safeguard vital medications for displaced residents.
