Balcony Point is an event location that overlooks a duck pond and the scenic country landscape of Springdale Farm, which is part of Northampton Park in Ogden, N.Y. Springdale Farm is a 200-ac

re public demonstration farm that welcomes thousands of visitors each year. The farm’s building at Balcony Point also serves as a day program site for Heritage Christian Services, which assists children and people with disabilities. Your patronage of Balcony Point strengthens programs at Springdale Farm and promotes meaningful living and working opportunities for people served by Heritage Christian Services. As April 8, the day of the total solar eclipse approaches, here are five safety tips to keep in mind to ensure that your experience is safe and special! ☀

🕶 Always use ISO 12312-2 certified solar viewers when looking directly into the sun during the duration of the eclipse. Viewing the sun with regular sunglasses or without adequate protection can result in solar retinopathy and severe eye injury. After the eclipse, if you are experiencing symptoms like blurred vision, watery eyes and blind spots, schedule an eye exam with an ophthalmologist right away.

⌚ Traffic is expected to be the heaviest right after totality ends at 4:53 p.m. EDT. It’s best to arrive at your designated viewing area early and to delay your departure after the eclipse for safer driving conditions.

💊 Limited access to businesses and heavy traffic may be an obstacle so it’s important to have all the medication and supplies you need on hand.

🚗 Areas in the path of totality are expected to experience a massive influx of visitors for the eclipse. Additionally, some streets or bridges may be closed for pedestrian viewing, resulting in increased levels of traffic and unexpected detours. It’s always a good idea to fill your gas tank ahead of time.

📅 Many schools, businesses, restaurants and stores will be closed temporarily or for the entire day. If it’s not a medical emergency, avoid making appointments on this day and take the time to enjoy it with friends and family!

All aboard! 🚂 Get in the holiday spirit with our Polar Express Movie Party, featuring fun holiday activities, a Christmas petting zoo and a special visit from Santa! 🎅

Join us from 1 – 6 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 9, 2023 to ring in the holiday season with a Christmas classic and a cozy atmosphere. Tickets are $20 and include cookies, hot cocoa/coffee, coloring sheets, a special Christmas gift and more! Concessions will be available for purchase starting from 1 p.m., and screening will begin at 2:15 p.m., followed by activities. You can purchase tickets at springdalefarm.org/events.
